#withkindnessandlove is a weekly series which is part of my #365daysofkindness project which I am taking on during this year. Each week, I will be sharing some stories of kindness along with some things that have made me smile during the week. Some weeks I might share a quote that has inspired me, or some suggestions for small acts of kindness that I have come across. Here are this week’s little moments of kindness and little things I have loved.
Little moments of kindness
Jessica made me very proud this week when she asked me one evening if she could make cakes for all her friends in Girls’ Brigade. We had so much fun baking together on Saturday afternoon, making cakes for her to take in to the church parade service on Sunday. I love that she wanted to share with her friends and came up with the idea all by herself.
“I was having a really bad day with my two toddlers at a shopping centre. I had already received a few eye rolls from people when an elderly man came up to me and asked how old my children were. I was about to burst out crying because I had reached my limit. When I told him my daughter was aged 12 months and my son was almost 3, he smiled and said, “Well done! They are lovely.” And walked off. I almost cried again, but this time from happiness.” (Alison – Five Little Stars)
“A couple days before Christmas I went to do our big shop at the local supermarket. After spending over an hour with a grumpy baby trawling the aisles, we made it to the tills to check out. I’ll be honest, I dread that bit – especially with the trolleys we use that have the baby chair on. Thankfully, two employees came over to help – one unloaded my trolley for me whilst the other entertained my little boy. Once the trolley was empty, they then helped me finish the packing, replaced my little boys socks and even pushed the trolley out to my car for me. Even better, they loaded it into the boot and took the trolley back whilst I calmed the baby and settled him in the car. It was lovely, I don’t think I’ve ever been so grateful for people going above and beyond their jobs and being so kind. A huge thumbs up from one highly harassed pre-christmas mum!” (Hayley – Devon Mama)

A blog post that I have loved
Our children are only small for such a short time. Now mine are at school and preschool, I’m becoming more and more aware of how quickly the time has passed since they were small babies and the importance of making the most of this time now while they’re still little. Just Saying Mum shared a post last week reflecting on a moment when she looked at her teenage daughter and saw her both as the teenager she is now and the tiny baby she once was. It’s a beautiful post full of love, sharing the reminder to stop and enjoy the moments because time does indeed pass by very quickly.

So grateful when people are kind when you have kids. My daughter who was 3 at the time was on a train singing happily “do you want to build a snow man” not loud but you could hear and a woman got really mad and told her to be quiet. I was trying to keep her quiet, but she kept singing and you could see this lady getting really annoyed so another passenger started singing along with my daughter really confidently to support her on the train. Then I joined in and it was really amazing! Best act of kindness from a stranger I have seen! Lots of people on the train smiling and lady moved!
Oh how lovely that other people joined in. I love listening to children singing. Thank you for sharing this – what a lovely act of kindness towards your daughter 🙂

Aww this is literally one of my favourite blog posts to read each week. How lovely that Jessica wanted to make cakes for all her friends, it seems like she is growing up to be kind just like her mummy.
