The Friday Focus 23/10/15

It’s been one of those weeks. One of those challenging weeks that have just left me feeling quite frazzled. Sophie deciding to stop breastfeeding last week has also led to her being rather reluctant to nap at all in the day (it was the one trick I had to get her off to sleep!) which makes her somewhat grumpy by late afternoon, and despite it all, she has still been fighting sleep at bedtime. Jessica has been tired this week too and whilst the girls are mostly lovely together, the tiredness has resulted in a lot more fighting between them. And to top it all, hubby has been working crazy hours this week meaning he has barely been home at all, and he is also away all of next week working on an event in Paris.

Despite knowing that next week I’ll be flying solo again, I’m looking forward to half-term. I’m hoping it will help take the edge of the tiredness that we are all feeling and I’m looking forward to celebrating Sophie’s second birthday (whilst also feeling a little sad that my baby girl is growing up so quickly). And I’m also looking forward to the fact that things should settle down a little for hubby after next week and hopefully we can spend some more time together as a family.

Things I have loved this week:

  • Having a family day out together and going to Apple Day at a local farm.

  • Going out for a Chinese meal to celebrate my father-in-law’s birthday.
  • Going for an autumn walk to collect some pretty coloured leaves which we then made into an autumn leaf wreath.

  • Seeing Jessica and Sophie dressed up as cats for the Halloween-themed Tinytalk class.

  1. Sounds like a busy wee for you all. Enjoy the calm (?) of half term week and enjoy having hubby back – hope he brings you something wonderful from Paris!

  2. Oh dear, it does sound tiring for you all. It’s so frustrating when they’re clearly tired and won’t sleep, too, as you know it’ll make a difference but they will not listen! I do hope you have a restful half term x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

  3. I can totally understand how you feel. If I didn’t have Darren on the shift he is now, I would be in tears everyday by dinner time! I didn’t realise Sophie was going to be two, for some reason in my mind she was older. I hope she has a great birthday next week. Love the photo of them dressed up x

  4. So many implications of stopping breastfeeding, I bet she didn’t think that all through đŸ˜‰ But what cute kitty-kats you have đŸ™‚ Hope next week is better x #wotw

  5. I always love your pictures. So lovely. Hope you feeling a bit less frazzled Hun. Tricky week with Sophie stopping breastfeeding but good about the feature!! Well done đŸ™‚ hopefully half term will be that break you need to recharge X #wotw

  6. You have had a great week! Congratulations on being published on Netmums, well deserved. I just love the photo of your little kittens, so cute. Great choice of word bearing in mind your turbulent week. Good luck next week, I know how frazzled I was when hubby worked away. Hope you find some peace. #hapoydays

  7. Sorry to hear you have had a difficult week, hope next week is a little better for you. The leaf picking looked like a lot of fun. How cute do Sophie and Jessica look as cats đŸ™‚ #HappyDays

  8. Hi Louise, frazzled sounds like a good word to sum up your week. Tired children can be testing at best! I hope next week isn’t so testing for you and that you have some fun over half term. I love your photos!

    xx

  9. This first half term is such a hard one, I too have dragged myself to the end exhausted. It is so hard hubby being away, Chris used to stay away lots when the boys were little and I really struggled at times. Ans ah the wend of an era finishing breast feeding but lots more freedom for you, have a great week x

  10. Aww my daughter too will be a cat this Halloween. I’ve hung up her outfit in preparation. It’s a geat feeling when you are mentioned on the internet by others. May you continue having many lovely times with your little ones. #wotw
