The Friday Focus 17/04/15

We’ve had such a fun week this week – my twin sister and nieces have been staying for a few days and the girls have loved spending time with Auntie Fizz and their cousins. We have certainly been making the most of the lovely weather by getting out and about as much as possible.

Out and About:

We had a lovely afternoon at Northala Fields, climbing the mounds and looking at the views across London and my nieces enjoyed rolling down the hills and tried to teach Jessica how to do it but she wasn’t so keen and told them it was “too tricky”

Jessica and Sophie enjoyed being able to go to the park on their bike and trike and having their cousins there to push them on the swings was great as it gave me a few moments to just enjoy sitting in the sun and watching the girls having fun together!

We went to the Roald Dahl museum on Tuesday which was a fab day out – it was such an interesting place and there was so much for the children to do – even Jessica and Sophie enjoyed getting creative in George’s Crafty Kitchen. After we visited the museum we finished off the day by doing a treasure trail around Great Missenden.

Fun at home:
We’ve had a couple of craft sessions at home and the girls have enjoyed getting paint and craft stuff out and creating sequin pictures together.

Time for me:

I got to have a nice long soak in the bath while my sister and nieces entertained the girls – bliss! I also tried to donate blood for the first time since before I was pregnant with Jessica, only to find when I got there that I’m slightly anaemic and therefore can’t donate at the moment. That might also explain why I’ve been so tired lately despite getting a reasonable amount of sleep.

On the blog:

My post ‘Parental sleeping positions’ was featured on the front page of Mumsnet Bloggers Network which I was very chuffed about!

My happiest moment:
Sitting around the table eating roast lamb with my family, sister and nieces and giggling over my niece describing a sheep being cooked by “putting it on a Spitfire” – brought some very funny images to mind!

Next week I would like to:

Spend some time with my mum as she is coming to visit.

  1. I never realised there was so much for kids to do at the Roald Dahl museum. I’ve always wanted to go but thought it might just be about him and his life. Must check it out!

    1. It’s a really interesting place – the story centre is full of activities for children and all four of the girls (aged from 18 months to 11) enjoyed it.

  2. The weather has been so ace hasn’t it? Lovely family week it looks like. The craft stuff looks like real fun. Can’t wait until my monster older for more of that! Congrats again on mumsnet post! Xx #wotw

  3. Sounds like a fab week hon, you can just tell that you and your sister are the best of friends. Great shot of you altogether 🙂 I love the sound of the Roald Dahl museum, must look into it. Congrats on the Mumsnet coup, great to see you getting the recognition you thoroughly deserve. Have a gorgeous weekend xx

  4. Always nice when you can sit back and just enjoy watching them for a few minutes. They look like they’re enjoying crafting – look forward to Oz being old enough to spend hours marvelling at paint, play doh etc.

  5. That sounds like another great week. We went to the Roald Dahl museum on the day that it opened, I loved it. I would like to see a lamb being cooked on a spitfire too ha! Hope next week is just as good x

  6. Love the look of the Roald Dahl museum, we haven’t been but I am going to add it to my list of wants! Thank you for joining in with #HappyDaysLinky, so glad you had a great week x

  7. I’ve heard lots of good things about the Roald Dahl museum, it’s a place I’d love to visit.

Good on you for trying to give blood. 🙂 I highly recommend Spatone for upping your iron levels as it doesn’t have any of the, er, side-effects that the tablets do.

A long soak in the tub sounds ace, hope you enjoyed every second.

    Thanks for joining our #HappyDaysLinky
