The Friday Focus 10/07/15

We’ve been making the most of still being able to use our preschool pass and packing in the trips to Legoland this week, with not one but three days there!

This week's word of the week is "Legoland" - The Friday Focus 10/07/15 - Little Hearts, Big Love

Out and About

Yesterday was the last day we could use our preschool pass until September and we made sure we enjoyed our summer days at Legoland while we still could – just the three of us last Friday, a day with Jessica’s preschool friends on Tuesday and then yesterday we took Auntie Maxine to Legoland for the first time. The girls have been loving spending so much time at their favourite theme park although it has been interesting to see how Jessica’s tastes have changed since the start of the season. She used to love the pirate show but now she gets frightened by all the bangs and the Heartlake Friends show has become the firm favourite instead. Sophie just loves it all, although gets frustrated when Jessica gets to go on rides without her!

As well as our days out at Legoland, we also enjoyed time at Party in the Park on Saturday and Jessica had her very first ride on a pony (although wasn’t too sure about the experience!).

On Sunday, we spent the morning at a fundraising summer fayre in memory of Amelia, my friends’ daughter who died last year as a result of an epileptic seizure. Since Amelia’s death, Lisa and Ashley, her parents, have worked tirelessly to raise awareness of Epilepsy Research Action and help fundraise for them. There were lots of stalls selling various items – sweets, stationery, jams and chutneys and plants as well as face painting, a raffle and a tombolo. I’m always unlucky on the tombolo but I did win some lovely flowers, candles and a bottle of prosecco in the raffle. Jessica also enjoyed having her face painted as Hello Kitty again! Afterwards, we went to visit Nanny and spend some time with my family.

Fun at home

We’ve not spent a lot of time at home this week although we have had Auntie Maxine come to stay for a couple of days and the girls have loved spending time with her.

Time for me

I got to have a lovely long lie-in on Saturday morning – it was utter bliss and much needed!

On the blog

This week’s Parenting Pep Talk guest post featured the lovely Jocelyn from The Reading Residence, sharing her words of encouragement and advice that she’d found helpful. It would be lovely to hear some more positive parenting moments from other bloggers, so f you would like to join in with Parenting Pep Talk, please let me know!

My happiest moment

Having snuggles in bed in the morning with both my girls and Sophie giving Jessica a big cuddle and kiss and saying “Awww! I love you too, Jess-sha!” So adorable.

Next week I would like to…

I still need to make those sunhats! Better get a move on or else summer will be over before I get around to it!

  1. You have well and truely made the most of your Legoland passes before the summer rush! It’s funny how taste’s change and things can be feared that weren’t before! Hope you all had fun with your guest. That lie in sounds like heaven. Been a long week and not enough sleep xxx #wotw #happydays

    1. Yes, we’re about half an hour away from where you live – it is lovely to be able to go regularly isn’t it? 🙂

  2. So great that you’ve got so much out of your Legoland passes hon and what a day to enjoy it for the last time! Utterly tragic about your poor friends losing their daughter, but great that it’s brought people together to raise awareness. Love the face painting and the kids cuteness 🙂

Have a fab weekend hon xx

  3. Wow, definitely making excellent use of the Legoland pass! We’ve still not been, maybe one day. Lovely photo’s and it is good that people can come together to help raise awareness and support others in truly awful circumstances.

  4. You’ve definitely made the most of that pass, looks fun! A busy week for you then, glad you managed to get a nice lie in, too. I love morning snuggles with my two, as well. Thanks again for having me on your blog, too 🙂 Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

    1. Thank you – that lie in was definitely much needed and morning snuggles are just the best aren’t they? Thank you again for sharing your guest post and always a pleasure to link up to #wotw 🙂

  5. Sounds like you’ve had a great week. Is the pre-school ticket for Legoland a good deal? When’s a good age for the park – is 2 too young to go on most things?

    1. The preschool ticket is good value – it is £60 and covers one child under 5 and an accompanying adult on weekdays during term time. My eldest was 2 when we started going regularly and there were quite a few rides she could go on plus the Brickville play area in Duplo Valley is good for little ones. There are also the live shows which my two both love and Miniland, the Lego town, which they both could happily spend all afternoon in.

  6. Oh so jealous, I would love to take Baby to Legoland, seems so expensive though. Looks like you all had a wonderful time, so glad. Also I am happy that you got a lie in 🙂 Have a lovely week x

    1. Thanks Aby – it is expensive especially if you pay the prices on the gate but the preschool pass is brilliant value and we’ve certainly made the most of it x

  7. Now that’s how you work a Lego pass! We have yet to go but every time I read your updates it makes me realise that we really must go! It’s on our list of things to do this summer.
I’m also really glad to see that you’re really time out with the kids
    xx

    1. Thanks Tracey – we definitely made the most of it! Would definitely advise getting a voucher or booking tickets a couple of days in advance as it is cheaper than buying tickets on the gate. Hope you and the family have a wonderful summer x

  8. Did you know it’s already Tuesday for our friends “down under”? So in just a few hours, let’s let our Aussie and Kiwi friends get us started on this week’s Wordless Wednesday at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/! In the meantime, last week’s linky remains open.

  9. Ahhh now I want to go to Legoland – somewhere to go when Jasmine’s a bit older I think. I bet she’d love it. How great that it’s right on your doorstep too!

I have total admiration for your friends and their fundraising – they are totally making the most of what is such horrible situation. And what a great way to make sure Amelia’s memory lives on.

    Thanks for joining our #HappyDaysLinky

    1. It’s great for little ones but agree that Jasmine will enjoy it a little more when she is older. I am so in awe of my friends, their strength and all they do to help keep their daughter’s memory alive, they are wonderful parents and their love for Amelia shines through in all they do.

  10. Thrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeee days? Wow that is a testament to them really that there is so much to do I still haven’t been!
I can’t believe it has been a year already, sounds like they are doing a fantastic job of raising awareness.
Thank you for joining in our #HappyDaysLinky x
