Sophie is signing

SSAA

At the beginning of August, Sophie received a certificate at our Tiny Talk classes for doing her first sign and last week she received the next certificate – for being able to do five different signs. She can now wave, clap and sign ‘milk’, ‘mummy’ and ‘all gone’. Being able to sign really helped Jessica when she was a baby and reduced the frustration of not being able to communicate so hopefully it will be the same for Sophie. She is quite chatty now anyway though and says “mum-mum”, “da-da”, “nan-nan” (and I’m sure we’ve also had “mummy” and “nanny” once or twice) as well as ba-ba (which sometimes could be her saying “bye-bye” although I’m not sure) and one of my favourites which is when she says “aahh” and snuggles her face against my shoulder. Lovely moments.

  1. I love baby sign. It’s amazing to be able to communicate before they’re actually talking. I think it helped a lot with talking more and earlier aswell!

  2. Lovely! My little girl has learnt a few signs through her music class; ‘more’ ‘slow’ ‘fast’ ‘one more time’ ‘yes’ ‘no’ 🙂 More was especially useful! Love that Sophie gets a certificate when she learns a new sign x #SSAA

  3. Hello there, that’s fantastic and well done Sophie! So glad she has a certificate, what a lovely thing to do. Looking forward to reading more! x #ssamazingachievements

  4. Good news! Isn’t it great to share the important stuff with #PoCoLo x

  5. I find the baby signing concept fascinating – such a brilliant skill to learn for both of you! This would be a great post for #loudnproud which is over at Mum of Three World this week. It opens on a Thursday and we rotate the host – only if you fancy it of course!

    1. Thank you – we really love our baby signing classes. Thank you also for letting me know about #loudandproud – have linked up there also 🙂

    1. Thank you – thought it was time to go for a change with going self-hosted. So proud of Sophie with her signing – it is such a great way to communicate and she signs ‘milk’ a lot to tell me she is hungry! Lovely to link up with #PoCoLo again 🙂

  6. What a lovely video and how fantastic that babies are able to sign before they can talk. Both T and D had very stilted speech so this would definitely had helped us.
Fab that she received a certificate too, no doubt the first of many.
Thanks for linking up with #SSAmazingAchievements 🙂

    1. Thank you – we love signing, has really been very useful for communication especially as Jessica was a bit slow with her speech initially. Lovely to link up to #SSAmazingAchievements again 🙂

  7. That’s fantastic. I’m glad she has taken to it. Ethan didn’t do well with signing, he may be ready now. I wonder if they will let a four year old go to the class ;0) x #SSAmazingAchievements

    1. Thank you – we love signing. There are definitely four year olds in our toddler class so might be worth asking if it’s something that Ethan might like now.
