This month has been one where I’m acutely aware of the time passing by far too quickly and how my children are growing up too quickly for my liking. We’re coming to the end of an era – we’ve had our last term-time holiday, our last term-time days out at Legoland and Jessica finishes preschool this week. I’ve been feeling quite emotional about it all and wondering where on earth the time has gone – surely it was only yesterday that baby Jessica was placed in my arms for the first time and now she is getting to be quite a big girl.
What is lovely though is to see how the girls are growing together as they get older. The way that Jessica looks out for Sophie and tells her about the things that she does (such as preschool and Girls’ Brigade) and finishing with “and when you’re bigger Sophie, you can do it too!” The way that Sophie looks up to Jessica and whenever Jessica expresses an opinion on something, I almost always hear Sophie saying “me too!” The way they are such wonderful playmates for each other, the love that they have for each other and the way they make each other giggle. They might be growing up too quickly for my liking but it is beautiful to watch them growing up nonetheless.
Jessica (4 years 10 months)
- Loved going swimming at Butlins and it was wonderful to see how much more confident she was in the water – wanting to swim by herself and managing to stay in the pool for 45 minutes the first time we went.
- Hopefully will not need heart surgery for another year or two as the team were happy with the results of her recent cardiac catheter.
- Has been diagnosed with glue ear after being referred for a hearing check. At the moment thankfully it’s not severe enough to need further treatment and will be reviewed again in a few months’ time.
- Has started to work out how to do dot-to-dot puzzles.
- Has loved visiting her new school and meeting her new teacher and is very excited at the thought of starting big school in September. Mummy is not quite so excited (sob!)
- Was very excited about getting the first badge on her badge bag at the Girls’ Brigade awards evening.
Sophie (2 years 8 months)
- Is now sleeping in a big girl bed at home after we took the sides off the cot.
- Loves doing different dances to different types of music and I love watching the way she always holds a pose at the end to finish – such a natural little performer!
- Loved having Nanny come and stay and especially loved all the different songs that Nanny sings which Sophie has been singing over and over again ever since. I especially love listening to her singing “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly” and the way Sophie will tickle me when she gets to the bit about the spider “that wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her.”
- Loves to give and receive lots of kisses but has started to wipe them away every now and then.
- Has enjoyed going along to Jessica’s school visits so much that I think she would be quite happy if she was the one going in September!
- Has now got her name down to start at Jessica’s preschool in January next year and I think she will love it.
Aww! It really is the end of an era but the start of a new one which will be so exciting!
Lovely photos x
It certainly is Kim – looking forward to a summer full of making memories before the next chapter starts 🙂
Wow, they both look like they’ve shot up, and in particular Sophie in the first photo. Gosh, time is zooming by far too quickly
What a lovely round up and I can hear your plea for time to slow down (I’m always asking for that, too!). There have been a few milestones hit this month – no more cots, first badges and of course visiting the new school. It’s the start of a new adventure for both of your girls but before that I hope you have a wonderful summer together
xx
Oh yes, definitely both growing fast! I think the milestone moments always make you aware of how quickly time passes and we will definitely be making the most of the summer before the next step! x
Ahh they look so lovely together. They’ve both had a lot going on! #LoudnProud
Thank you Sharon – it’s certainly been a busy month!
They look like they get along wonderfully, my youngest is finishing nursery next week and I am a ball of emotions right now! #siblingsproject
Oh I can imagine – it’s such an emotional time isn’t it? Hope your youngest’s last week at nursery went well.
I adore that photo of them in matching dresses holding hands, and the bags are so cute! They both look so grown up (which I know is not what you want to hear – how dare they grow up?!). Whilst I want to slow time down with my two, as you say, it is lovely seeing how they grow together more and more as they get older. Your girls are just beautiful, I do hope Jessica has a brilliant time at school, and I know you’ll be cramming in the fun before that day x
I love that photo too – always love to see the girls holding hands and walking together. They do look quite grown up and whilst I’d love to slow down time, it is lovely to see their bond growing as they get older too 🙂
Aww that last shot really made me melt, such a lovely sisterly moment! They grow up so fast don’t they? I can’t believe Monkey will be at school in September too… Its crazy how grown up he seems at the moment xx
They do grow up so quickly don’t they? Hope you have a lovely summer before Monkey starts school in September x
As always, they look so cute! It’s a bit alarming in a way, how fast they are growing up, isn’t it? I look at T sometimes and say “Oh please don’t grow up so fast!”. Jessica certainly looks like a “big” girl in the first photo. Their bond is so obvious, so cute! x #loudnproud
They certainly do grow up so quickly but it is lovely to see their bond growing too! 🙂
They are so cute together. Alice says the same to Holly ‘when you are bigger you an too’, it’s so adorable. Lots of big moments happening and one more siblings month and then our big ones will be starting school, eek! X #thesiblingsproject
It’s a scary thought isn’t it? Can’t believe that schooldays are so nearly here!
Ah, they’re so lovely to see them play together, they seem to get on really well.
Thanks Emma – they are lovely together on the whole 🙂
What a lovely post. I love reading about the girls’ bond. I remember when my boys were close at that age – sadly it’s no more! I laughed at Sophie sometimes wiping kisses away!
Thanks for linking with Loud ‘n’ Proud.
Thank you Sarah – it is lovely to see that bond, I do hope that it lasts 🙂
Lovely bond growing together. Love the matching dresses too. They seem like such a great team of sisters. #siblingsproject
Thank you Jenny, they are lovely together 🙂
Love that photo of the two of them walking ahead of you. So sweet!! #TheSiblingsProject
Thank you Katy – I love that photo too 🙂
