From the mouths of babes #82 – Miss Wriggly Pants

From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!

A big thank you to everyone who linked up last week. I loved reading about James’ banter with the police and his answer to what’s the emergency number shared by Inside Martyn’s Thoughts and White Camellia’s list of excuses her son uses to avoid bedtime – can you relate to any of these?

A cheeky smile from Jessica with the text "From the mouths of babes #82 - Miss Wriggly Pants"

One of my favourite toddlerisms when Jessica was little was the way she pronounced “koala” as “ko-wa-wa.”  It was so adorable. I was quite sad when she started saying it correctly.  Sophie hasn’t repeated that many of Jessica’s toddlerisms but this one has made a comeback. “Ko-wa-wa” sounds just as cute coming from Sophie as it did from Jessica.

There aren’t so many words these days that Jessica mispronounces but I do love the way she says “togegger” rather than “together.”

Jessica has now reached that stage where talking about bottoms and pants is the funniest thing ever and making up songs to include them is funnier still.  We were treated to endless renditions of her latest song on the journey to the beach last week.

“There’s a worm at the bottom of my garden, and his name is Wriggly-PANTS!”

I’m not sure the new lyrics scan quite so well with the line that follows but given that it is usually just followed by a fit of the giggles instead, it doesn’t seem to matter too much – and it is lovely to hear the laughter.

If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.

Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying!

    1. Thanks Caroline – I do love those mispronunciations and ko-wa-wa was one of my favourites with Jessica so it is extra-lovely to hear it again 🙂

  1. Freya likes toilet humour too. If ever I need to cheer her up I just mention passing wind. Hehe. Simple things.
