From the mouths of babes #80

From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!

A big thank you to everyone who linked up last week. I loved Little Steps’ post about little T’s first tooth coming out and T’s friend wanting to have her tooth knocked out too!

Sophie has been making me chuckle at the moment.  She can be a little bit bossy at times (although is quite adorable with it!) and I hear a lot of myself in some of the things she comes out with (which makes me think twice about the things I say!)

We were playing with Duplo while waiting to see Jessica’s cardiologist last week and I accidentally knocked over Sophie’s tower which she was quite cross about:

“You knocked over my tower, Mummy! Go and play somewhere else!”

I was telling hubby off for getting suncream over the sofa whilst applying it to Sophie the other day.  She instantly jumped to Daddy’s defence:

“Daddy didn’t mean to, Mummy!”

The other morning, her first words on waking were “Finished! I’ve finished with my toothbrush, Mummy!”

She’s a very determined young lady and “No!” is definitely a favourite word of hers at the moment and occasionally I will catch her pointing a finger at Jessica and saying “I said no, Jess-ta!” (can’t think where she might have picked that one up…!)  The word “no” is particularly favoured at bedtime “No! It not bedtime! I not sleepy!” – followed by much resisting of sleep (although thankfully once she finally gives in, she usually sleeps fairly well!)

Whilst her speech on the whole is very clear and easy to understand, there are still times when I can’t quite work out what exactly she is trying to say.  The toddlerisms are starting to disappear though but I do love some of the ways she pronounces things.  My current favourite is “Mo-Mo-Ma” which translates as “thermometer.”

If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.

Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying!

  1. We have a Miss Independent too. It’s turned me back into a teenager as I just want to spend all my time rolling my eyes. Hehe.
