From the mouths of babes #76

From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!

A big thank you to everyone who linked up last week. I loved Mummy Here and There’s son’s description of “zig-zags like electricity” – what fab imagery and Happy Go Mummy made me chuckle with her son’s comment about the “heaven flag.”

Serenading Daddy after Girls' Brigade - sharing this week's #ftmob moments

Jessica has been busy this week with Girls’ Brigade and took part in the Company Display on Saturday – singing and dancing along with her friends to “My Favourite Things” which was wonderful to watch.  It brought back a lot of memories for my hubby of his days in Boys’ Brigade at our church and it was lovely to finish off the day by continuing with a tradition from his days in Brigades and having dinner at Pizza Hut.  I think the girls thought we were there for a birthday though as they suddenly started singing Happy Birthday to Daddy (with Sophie then repeating it over and ov, including every family member she could think of!)

It was lovely to listen to Jessica in the back of the car telling Sophie about Girls Brigade.

“When you’re a big girl like me, you can go to Girls’ Brigade, Sophie, and I will look after you and show you what to do.”

I can just imagine my two little ones going off to Girls’ Brigade together in a couple of years’ time and Jessica being the protective big sister.  I always love picking up Jessica from Girls’ Brigade and seeing Sophie’s delight at having her big sister back again – the way she shouts out “Jess-ita!” and runs to give her the biggest hug is just beautiful to watch.

If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.

Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying!

  1. Ah this is lovely Louise, what a happy day. The repetitive singing of happy birthday to anyone and everyone is very sweet…and very familiar! It will be fun when they are there together too…their bond seems so sweet. XX

    1. Thanks Lucy – they do have a lovely bond and it was lovely to hear them both singing Happy Birthday over and over 🙂

  2. Aww this is so sweet. Who wouldn’t like happy birthday sung repeatedly. And how lovely that she’ll look after her sister 🙂
