From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!
A big thank you to everyone who linked up last week. I loved The Parenting Jungle’s illustrated explanation of what her 4-year old think causes a tummy rumble and Caring in the Chaos’ joy at hearing her daughter saying “the best in the whole world!”
I was really chuffed last week to discover that my blog has been shortlisted for the BiBs awards in the family category. Thank you to everyone who has voted for my blog and helped me make the shortlist. I’d love it if you could vote again to help me reach the final – you can cast your vote here. A few other #ftmob linkers have also made the shortlist – Le Coin de Mel in the Food category; Cuddle Fairy and Days in Bed in the Inspire category; R is for Hoppit and Susan K. Mann both in the Writer category and Occupation (m)other in the Readers’ Choice category. Congratulations to you all and good luck with reaching the finals!
Jessica has been making me smile recently with some of the expressions that she uses. Here are some of my favourites:
“Mummy, can we pause it backwards please?” (can we rewind the DVD)
“Mummy, I love you even more muchly!”
“Mummy, I so sighted!” (I’m so excited)
Sometimes, her compliments don’t always come out quite as I think she intended:
“You’re the biggest mummy in the whole wide world!”
It makes me chuckle when she picks up phrases she’s heard on the TV and directs them at her sister. The other day she was telling Sophie off and informed her:
“You are a child’s plaything!”
That one comes straight from Toy Story – it’s also why Sophie likes to announce “I come in peace!” every so often.
If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.
Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying!
Thank you so much for the lovely mention. Best of luck to you for the finals!! x
My pleasure Becky and thank you – wishing you all the best of luck too! 🙂
Thank you for the mention! I already voted for you – good luck for the finals! #ftmob
Thank you so much! Good luck to you too for making it to the finals 🙂
So cute phases, I think we would all love to pause it backwards. I love the way children adopt phases from the telly X #ftmob
Pause it backwards is definitely one that has stuck – it sounds much more fun than just rewinding! 🙂
What a funny little girl – I love the “child’s plaything” one, Jet is always quoting Toy Story too. It is such a brilliant trilogy, I haven’t got bored of it – yet!
x Alice
I love Toy Story too – definitely one I’m happy to watch over and over again 🙂
Joy – I can’t see how to comment on your blog? I went to share the post instead, but you aren’t on Twitter so I can’t tweet you. Hank sounds like a real dude!
x Alice
Thanks Alice – I’ve commented on Joy’s FB page instead which is at https://www.facebook.com/conversationswithhank/ x
Aaaw I love these very muchly too. So cute. I love the “can we pause it backwards”. Olivia has developed American and Canadian accent from copying on telly. lol
It’s funny the things they pick up from TV isn’t it? 🙂
Bless her! Mine randomly use lines from tv too – always funny! I love ‘can we pause it backwards’ & ‘I so sighted’! #ftmob
