From the mouths of babes #66

From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!

A big thank you to everyone who linked up last week.  I loved Occupation (m)other’s list of some of the 18 million things she loves about her son and the little things that he has been saying – especially “pleasure doing business with you” and the imaginative thought process behind his wish to own a fireman’s pole.  Sounding Like My Mother shared a very useful guide to interpreting teen speak – no doubt by the time of posting this it has all changed again though!

From the mouths of babes #66: Sophie says... - Little Hearts, Big Love

It’s Sophie’s turn again this week to step into the limelight with a few of the funny sayings that she has come out with recently.

We enjoyed at day out at Cliveden over the Easter weekend. As we headed down to the water garden, Sophie spotted the lake ahead of us.
“Oh wow! That’s a lot of bath!” she exclaimed.

Whilst staying at Auntie Fizz’s house recently, she noticed the tattoo on my sister’s foot.

“Oh no, Auntie Fizz! You got crayon on your foot!”

She then proceeded to try and clean the “crayon” off with a baby wipe.

“Oh! Not working!

Nope.  Good luck with that one kiddo!

At a friend’s birthday party last week, Sophie enjoyed trying to dress me up in a hat.

“Dere Mummy.  You beautiful!”

There’s something so adorable about compliments from a toddler.  If my children think I am beautiful, who am I to argue?
If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.

Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying!

  1. How lovely Sophie paying you compliments! It is gorgeous how they relate everything to their own experience – what else could it be on Auntie Fizz’s foot but crayon?!
My post is a tenuous ftmob this week, but I thought I’d link up my recipe as it includes a few of the kids views – hope that’s ok?

    1. Thanks Alice – that was just fine to link up. I did love the way she thought the tattoo was crayon too and those compliments are always extra-special 🙂

  2. Awww what lovely things Sophie has said. So sweet. Freya is also confused by my foot tattoo, although hasn’t tried to wipe it off yet 🙂

    1. Thanks Maddy – I love the bath one too – Sophie used to call any body of water “bubble” so it’s nice to see that whilst it’s evolved, there’s still that bath connection in her mind!

  3. I love reading stuff little ones say. Their way of seeing the world is so refreshing. Ha ha, I bet she didn’t get far cleaning the ‘crayon’ off her auntie Fizz’ foot! Her seeing the lake as a big bath is also really sweet!
