From the mouths of babes #6

From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Perhaps they have just started babbling for the first time, or said their first definite word. It could be something cute, or funny, or incredibly embarrassing – whatever it is, I’d love to hear all about it.

Thank you so much to everyone who linked up last week – there were some wonderful moments shared and I loved reading and hearing about what all your little ones have been saying recently. I particularly liked Becoming a Stay at Home Mum’s little boy Monkey’s assertion that the Moon eats Smarties and Writing Bubble’s son’s misheard lyrics to a hymn and left him singing about maiming piranhas!

From the mouths of babes #6 - Little Hearts, Big Love

We go to church regularly as a family and our church really is almost like a second home to Jessica as we also drop in during the week after our toddler signing class and have lunch there too.  She knows where the toys and crayons are kept and will head off to get them out and then she and Sophie will happily sit and play while I get to sit and chat over a cup of coffee. I love the fact that she and Sophie are both so happy and comfortable in our church environment.

Last week, Jessica was quite excited as we were getting ready to go to church because church to her means that “I get to play with toys with A” (her friend at church) “whilst Mummy and Daddy sit and listen to a story and then do some singing.” I thought that was quite a good description of a church service!

This week, there was a little girl in the church crèche who I’d not seen before and I had a lovely proud mummy moment when Jessica said “hello!” (very enthusiastically like this little girl was her long-lost best friend), gave her a cuddle, took her hand and said “Come on! Let’s go and do some colouring!” I love the fact that my little girl is so outgoing and sociable – her little heart just overflows with love for everyone around her and everyone is her friend. I love to see other people through her eyes and see all the good in them – it is a shame that the world sadly isn’t the friendly place that my daughter thinks it is though and it saddens me that soon I will need to pop that bubble and teach her to be wary too.

If you’d like to share your posts about something your children have said (or sung!), then please add the badge code below and link up with me. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.

Look forward to hearing what your little ones have been saying.

  1. She is just adorable and sounds such a loving little girl,
    Thanks for hosting 🙂 xx

  2. Awe that’s lovely, Louise. Jessica sounds like such a little dote. The other girl’s parents must have been delighted that she was taken under wing that way! I too worry about the future, the world and the loss of innocence and joy when my little one realises not everyone is lovely 🙁 But I try not to think of it too much as I’m not really sure how I’ll be able to handle it!

    1. Thank you – she is a little sweetheart and hopefully it’ll be a while yet before I need to pop that bubble
