From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!
A big thank you to everyone who linked up last week. Writing Bubble really made me laugh with her reasons why snoring will now be referred to as “hot shoes” thanks to her 2-year-old. R is for Hoppit also made me chuckle with the latest list of The Toddler’s sayings – I quite liked the sound of doing “the plank walk” – perhaps The Toddler is starting a new dance craze?
I’ve been having fun looking through some old photos with the girls recently. Jessica, in particular, loves looking at photos and will offer her own thoughts on who is in the photo and what they are doing. Here’s a few of the ones that made me smile:
It’s Mummy and Daddy drinking juice and Daddy is laughing!
That’s Mummy wearing her number ten pyjamas.
Oh I like this one. Daddy is wearing his magic show jumper (translation: Daddy looks like a magician – apparently!)
This is Mummy back when she was a princess.
Oh look! Mummy is dancing with the band. You’re having lots of fun there, Mummy, but you need to get home to Jessica and Sophie. (This was nine years before Jessica was born!)
We also had a few “these photos are very boring” (mostly holiday snaps from places she’d never been too) and “I don’t remember any of these people” (photos of people she’d never met) and even the occasional “oh, I remember that!” (photos from years before she was born!)
Do your children like looking through old photos?
If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.
Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying!
Ah they are so funny, what goes through their minds! I love that she thought your husband was a magician, I can see where she’s coming from! Becky x #ftmob
Thanks Becky – it was funny to see those photos through the girls’ eyes 🙂
This is SUCH a cute post – I love all Jessica’s comments! The photos are lovely too. Thanks so much for mentioning my post. xx
Thanks Maddy – it was lovely looking back over the photos with the girls 🙂
Fantastic! I wonder what my children would have to say about our old photos!?
x Alice
Thanks Alice – if you’re ever tempted to try it, I’d love to hear what your children have to say! 🙂
hehehe! How adorable….It is fun to look at old photos. My girls love to. They often say they remember events from them when they were not even born too. lol
Thanks Kim – it is funny when they say they remember things when they weren’t born then! 🙂
So sweet! ‘Mummy when she was a princess’ – aww! Yes, Toddler likes to look at old photos that Grandparents have up & has some pretty funny thoughts. Thanks for hosting. #FTMOB
I quite like the idea that I was once a princess…! 🙂

Awww gorgeous photos and how sweet that they see you as a princess and daddy wearing his magic suit. I love the fact that kids at a young age have no concept of time X #ftmob
Thank you – I quite like the idea of me being a princess and hubby being a magician too! 🙂
