From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!
When Sophie is surprised by something, or something grabs her attention, she often exclaims “I don’t believe it!” It makes me chuckle every time I hear it – the emphasis on the second syllable of ‘believe’ makes her sound like a mini Victor Meldrew. I have no idea where she’s got this phrase from – she’s never seen One Foot in the Grave and neither hubby nor myself ever come out with it.
Jessica decided to bounce on hubby’s tummy the other day. We have Peppa Pig to blame for this one. I was trying to explain to Jessica that Daddy’s tummy isn’t bouncy like Daddy Pig’s tummy when Sophie chirped in. “Jessica, people are not trampolines!”
It’s funny to see Sophie getting bossy with her big sister. One thing I have noticed more and more though is how caring she can be towards Jessica. She notices that Jessica gets tired more easily than she does and sometimes needs a little help. Last week, we were out exploring and I asked Jessica if she could walk for a while as we were heading up a steep slope and it was hard to push the buggy with Jessica in it. Jessica wasn’t too impressed by the slope but Sophie took her hand and said “Don’t worry Jessica. I will hold your hand and help you. You can do it!” Bless her.
