From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!
A big thank you to everyone who linked up last week. Olivia’s quick reaction to having been discovered out of bed and playing (“I fell off the floor, Mummy!”) from Domesstique made me chuckle. I also loved reading about the heartwarming moment of sibling love that prompted My Tales from the Crib to write a book.
Jessica and Sophie have both been coming out with funny moments recently. Here are so of my favourites from the past week:
Jessica on nicknames:
Sophie: “Jess-sha! Jess-sha!”
Jessica (primly): “It’s not Jess-sha. My name is Jessica!”
Sophie on being reassured that Mummy is here:
Sophie (calling from upstairs having woken from her nap): “Mummy! Mummy!”
(As Mummy appears in the doorway) “Oh, there you are!”
Sophie on bedtime prayers:
Sophie (saying her bedtime prayers): “Dad-doo for Jess-sha, dad-doo for Mummy…” (pause)
Me: “Thank you for Daddy?”
Sophie: “No. Just Mummy.”
Jessica on what she is drawing:
Jessica: “I’m drawing a sha-poh”
Me: “A sha-poh?” (trying to work it out) “A chapel?”
Jessica: “No Mummy, a sha-poh” (mimes putting a hat on)
Me: “Oh! Un chapeau!”
Jessica: “Yes. A chapeau and a manteau!”
(Her current favourite DVD is the first words in French one and these seem to be her two favourite words at the moment!)
Sophie on colours:
Me: “What colours can you see?”
Sophie: “Mauve” (not the first colour choice I would have expected!)
If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.
Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying this week.
Ha ha I love the way she’s speaking French already! We tried a bit with Ava and only got as far as ‘oui’ before she found it hilarious. Becky x #ftmob
Thanks Becky – I’ve never had much success with “oui” but she seems to be picking up quite a few words from the DVD which is great 🙂
Poor Daddy!!
I know! I think it is probably because he has been away so much lately.
Our daddy gets similar treatment from the boys. Poor him. He’s not that bad actually 🙂
Ah it’s not just my children then. I’m blaming it on hubby being away so much recently!
Haha fab. Poor daddy though! Clearly an artist for seeing mauve too! Thanks for hosting
I was very impressed by “mauve” – I didn’t even realise that was a word she knew! 🙂
Mauve! Amazing! I love that Jessica is drawing in French – bilingual art is very underrated! So sweet, as always. #ftmob
Thank you – was very impressed by the drawing in French! 🙂
Aawww haha poor daddy. Clever girls for speaking French already. Olivia is into her Spanish too. 🙂 xx
Oh! You star, thank you for mentioning me too. <3 xx
Thanks Melody – lovely when children learn a second language, I do wish I spoke another language well enough to be able to encourage my children to be properly bilingual.
BB always says things are green when I see blue – haven’t quite got to the bottom of it yet! #ftmob
They can be quite similar sometimes though – there are definitely shades in the middle that can be debated as to whether they’re one or the other!
Wow speaking french, clever girls. That’s what daddy’s are there for 😉
I was quite impressed by how well they’ve been picking it up! 🙂
