From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!
A big thank you to everyone who linked up last week. Thirsty Daddy’s brilliant explanation about the birds and bees and “baby making magic” to his 4 year old made me chuckle and I also loved the advice about how to get out of the woods when lost from Four Little Girls… The Mummy Memoirs.
Sophie has become a lot more assertive recently which has made for some fun moments! Her latest pet phrase is “Mine, give it back!” which she says in a very adorable sing-song voice, stressing the ‘mine’ and ‘back’. That said, it’s now progressed to “Mine, give it back NOW!” which is not quite as cute. I also hear a lot of “dop it, Jess-sha!” (stop it, Jessica) if Jessica tries to give her little sister a unwanted cuddle, or a tickle (or a sly thump – as loving as they generally are, we do get the odd little fight here and there!)
Heard once or twice, these little phrases are quite cute although they definitely lose their appeal when heard repeatedly along with shrieks, particularly when heard on a loop before 7 in the morning!
If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too. I’m linking up a post about our day out at Langleybury Children’s Farm which includes a couple of Jessicaisms.
Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying this week.
I remember the “assertive stage.” “I do it myself!” was one of the most heard phrases around here
Ah yes, we get that one now too! 🙂
Looking forward to linking up & taking part!x #ftmob
Thank you – lovely to have you join in! 🙂
I’m not sure if it’s funny or not but wait until they’re a little older. The hits turn into punches and the words become longer!
Oh the joys of parenting.
Thanks for hosting #ftmob
Ah yes, I’m sure that will be fun! 🙂
Aaaw that sounds familiar here too especially the “now” word although Olivia will only say it to her toys or her pretend toys. lol
PS. I miss to link last week, I was lost in some DIY’s in the house. Eeek. xx
Lovely to have you back again this week Melody – hope the DIY went well 🙂
It’s a double-edged sword when they get more assertive – very cute and great that they are learning to be more themselves but it can be quite tiring! Sounds like Sophie is more cute than tiring though. xx
Definitely agree that it can be tiring – hearing it a dozen times before 8am is definitely not quite so cute!
