The Friday Focus – 31/10/14

This week’s word of the week is:

WOTW 31-10-14Sophie turned one on Monday and we celebrated her birthday with a party on Saturday with family and friends. Both the girls had a wonderful time. We also had Auntie Maxine come to stay for a few days and had a new baby arrive in the family – my great-nephew Ethan who was born the day before Sophie’s birthday.

Here’s a summary of how this week has been:

Out and About:
Jessica and Sophie enjoyed an afternoon at the park on Sophie’s birthday and have been out for walks with Auntie Maxine. We also went to a Halloween messy play session where Jessica had a wonderful time playing with murky water and bowls of string in paint and Sophie enjoyed trying to eat glitter.

Fun at home:
Sophie’s birthday means that the girls have been having lots of fun with new toys! We’re still working through opening all the presents Sophie received for her birthday but the girls are particularly enjoying playing with the Ninky Nonk musical activity train and the train set (although Sophie enjoys mostly taking the tracks apart as fast as Mummy is trying to set it up!) We spotted Sophie’s card on CBeebies on the wall behind the presenters but didn’t hear it being read out – nice to see it on screen though!

Friday Focus 31-10-14 (05)Friday Focus 31-10-14 (03)Time for me:
I had a couple of hours to myself at home whilst Auntie Maxine took the girls for a walk. It was mostly spent working on the church magazine and getting it off to be printed but at least it made it easier to get it done!

My happiest moment:
Being with all my family and celebrating Sophie’s birthday at her birthday party.

Friday Focus 31-10-14 (04)Next week I would like to:
Still trying to get those cushions done! Maybe I’ll manage to get one of them finished next week!

  1. Ah! I bet you can’t believe another year’s gone by! It seems to go so much faster with your second child I find. I love their cat outfits – so cute! And the train set looks amazing. Well done you for getting Sophie’s birthday card up on screen too! Have a great weekend Xx #wotw

  2. Happy 1st Birthday Sophie! It looks like you got lots of lovely prezzies!

What a wonderful family photo and such a great keepsake for years to come!

    1. Thank you – she had a wonderful day and it was lovely to get a photo of us all together 🙂

  3. I am glad you spotted her card- it is good that they display them all now even if they can’t read them all out. I am too scared to send one in every year in case it isn’t shown!!
Love the family shot- especially as only half are looking at the camera- ‘real’ photos are always best I think!

    1. Thank you – love that they display the cards as it gives more scope for more cards to be featured. Love that photo too and lovely to link up with #happydayslinky again 🙂

  4. It sounds like you’ve had a great week. Happy birthday to Sophie, and also to baby Ethan who shares a birthday with BabyBio! It looks like Sophie got some amazing presents, we also staggered opening pressies so it wouldn’t get too overwhelming. How exciting that your card was featured on the CBeebies wall, did you manage to record it to keep?
I hope you have another great week and get closer to completing your cushions!

    1. Thank you – hope BabyBio had a lovely birthday too – they can get a bit overwhelmed by lots of presents when they’re little. We did manage to record CBeebies, thank you. Hope you have a great week too 🙂

    1. Thanks Sara – it has been a lovely week and so glad my little one had such a lovely birthday 🙂

  5. I bet you’re wondering where the last twelve months have gone! Birthdays when they are that young are lovely. Watching them tear paper off presents is so cute as theit faces show true wonderment and they really have no clue as to what it’s all about.

I’m glad your little girl had a fun birthday and that she is happy playing with her new toys with her sister.

    Popped over from #WotW.

    1. Thank you – yes have definitely been wondering where that time has gone – it went by so very fast! Was lovely to watch her enjoying her birthday and her big sister definitely enjoyed helping with opening the presents! 🙂
