Friday Focus 31/01/2025 – Space

It’s been nice to have some space for myself this week with Sophie back at school again after being home with chickenpox last week. Thomas hasn’t yet come down with it, but we’re still within the timeframe for the incubation period so he could still do so. I’m hoping he’ll come down with it sooner rather than later if he has caught it!

The word 'space' in light blue bubble writing

I’ve been doing a bit of decluttering around the house this week and taken some things to the charity shop. It’s been nice to have a bit more space as a result of that.

What I’ve been grateful for this week:

Four photos of my husband sleeping from the calendar his colleagues produced; a blue tit on the bird feeder; my husband and Sophie rubbing my feet; Sophie doing a kitchen science experiment; my new teal blue kettle; a purple blanket with show badges sewn on; pink tulips at Jessica's forever bed - "#365daysofgratitude 2025 - Week 5"

  • Day 24 – I am grateful for this calendar of “Advanced Sleep Tech Yoga Poses” produced by my husband’s colleagues which made us laugh today.

  • Day 25 – I am grateful that Sophie enjoyed watching the birds in the garden and joining in with the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch.

  • Day 26 – I am grateful for a foot rub.

  • Day 27 – I am grateful that Sophie enjoyed doing some kitchen science.

  • Day 28 – I am grateful for a new kettle.

  • Day 29 – I am grateful that the patches for the panto have been added to Sophie’s blanket.

  • Day 30 – I am grateful for pretty pink tulips for Jessica.

Other things that have made me smile this week:

  • Having a board game afternoon.

Sophie and Daddy playing 'Where is Moldova?'

  • Thomas focusing well in his swimming lesson.

  • Thomas having a very good day at school and getting seven stars on his reward chart.

  • Getting the final version of Thomas’s EHCP.

  • Pretty sunrises and sunsets.

  1. How lovely to have some time to yourself. I am glad Sophie is better after Chicken pox.
hahaha! The calendar with your husband on did make me chuckle and your new kettle is so cute. x

  2. Space is a lovely word for the week, I’m glad Sophie is better I bet she missed being at school. If Thomas does catch it I hope it is only mild for him.
Decluttering is on my list for February although as quickly as I clear space it fills up again.
The calendar is brilliant, your husband is a great sport for doing that.
    Have a lovely weekend x

  3. Sounds like it’s been a great with with some space, amusement from that calendar, and successes for Thomas. I’m always decluttering but slowly. I’ve got a load of charity shop things I must drop off there though.

  4. It sounds like a good week, you can’t beat board game afternoons…or napping on the job, lol. I’m glad Sophie is feeling better and if Thomas gets it I hope it’s sooner rather than later. I hope the EHCP helps. Since we had one for the Little Man things have been much better for him.

  5. I like the word space, it’s nice to have time for yourself. I did the Brirdwatch too but all the birds in my area decided to take the weekend off and I didn’t see any! LOL! The calendar is brilliant.

    1. We often find they seem to hide when we do the Birdwatch too – I’m sure we see fewer during our hour watching than we normally do!

  6. You know you’re an adult when you get excited by a new kitchen appliance LOL
We enjoyed the birdwatch too, we are lucky to have quite a few species in our garden including robins, coal / blue and great tits – not so keen on the magpies and pigeons though

  7. Sounds like a good week! Glad to hear that Sophie is better, and you have had some space. Space is important. We love board games too.
The calendar made me smile. And wow @ the amount of badges, that’s so impressive!

  8. It’s always nice to have some space for yourself. Sometimes we need that. I hope that Thomas doesn’t end up with chicken pox. I was thinking, though, wondering if he could be infecting others even if he doesn’t show any signs of it. I hope not. Have a great week ahead.

    1. Yes, unfortunately chickenpox is infectious from a couple of days before the spots appear but he had a couple of days of feeling unwell before they appeared so stayed home and hopefully he hasn’t passed it on to anyone else.

  9. I’ve done the decluttering, just need to get the piles to the charity shop now. I’m surprised the chicken pox hasn’t hit Thomas yet, how is Sophie doing? Board games look fun. The sunrises and sunsets have been very pretty recently.
