Friday Focus 30/04/21 – Low

I’ve been feeling a little low this week and finding myself getting a bit discouraged over things. My energy levels have been low and I’m not sure whether it’s more due to a few disturbed nights, or tiredness caused by getting my first Covid vaccine at the weekend or a bit of both.

The word 'low' in grey

Thankfully I seem to have got off lightly on the side effects front. Just had a bit of a sore arm for a couple of days along with tiredness, which may not have been as a result of the vaccine anyway.

Hubby has been working long hours this week and has been away for a couple of days and I’ve been juggling a few too many balls for my liking. We’ve got a fairly quiet weekend planned so hopefully I’ll get time to recharge my batteries again.

What I’ve been grateful for this week:

Sophie reading a bedtime story to Thomas; me wearing a mask with my Covid vaccination card; Sophie holding my favourite dolly; Sophie with her GB@Home certificate and two new badges for her badge bag; pretty flowers at Jessica's forever bed; white apple blossom; Thomas wearing a hat and looking at knitted cakes at Tiny Talk - "#365daysofgratitude 2021 - Week 17"

  • Day 113 – I am grateful that Sophie enjoys reading bedtime stories to Thomas.

  • Day 114 – I am grateful to have had my first vaccine.

  • Day 115 – I am grateful that Susie, my favourite doll when I was a little girl, is now being loved and looked after by Sophie.

  • Day 116 – I am grateful that Sophie has still been able to enjoy Girls’ Brigade at home and earn badges for doing so throughout this last year.

  • Day 117 – I am grateful that some of the flowers we received a couple of weeks ago remembering Jessica on the anniversary of her death are still looking beautiful and so I was able to share some more of them with her today along with some forget-me-nots from the garden.

  • Day 118 – I am grateful for blossom – or “tree daisies” as Thomas calls it.

  • Day 119 – I am grateful that Thomas was much more confident about joining in at Tiny Talk this week.

Other things that have made me smile this week:

  • Spending an afternoon visiting friends and enjoying the sunshine in their garden.

Hubby swinging Thomas around by his feet

  • Thomas stopping midway through a walk to ask “hug and kiss me?”

  1. I’m sorry you have been feeling a little low, maybe it was the vaccine. I know I had very little side effects from mine apart from tiredness, but I admit I also felt a little low. I love that Thomas calls blossom ‘tree daisies’ how sweet.

  2. Oh no! Sending love and hugs.
I am so glad you didn’t suffer badly with the side effects of the vaccine. I was tired for a week after mine and my dad had his 2nd on on Sunday and slept for about 36 hours out of 48. lol I hope you have a nice relaxed weekend.
Sophie is just adorable reading the bedtime story. x

  3. I’m sorry you are feeling low but I can totally relate. The day after my first vaccine I had trouble keeping my eyes open had crawled into bed at 8.20 pm. It must have been hard to feel like that if your hubby was working long hours too. I don’t know what I would have done if Darren wasn’t here that day. Some great moments with the kids this week. Enjoy your weekend of rest #365 #WotW

  4. Tree daisies! Oh Thomas. I love it. I’m glad you had only a light reaction to your vaccine, but sorry you’ve been feeling low. It can’t be easy, especially with your husband working longer hours. Breathe in those flowers. Doesn’t Sophie look so grownup reading to Thomas? How lovely that she is looking after your doll too. I hope the weekend is relaxing and gives you a chance to raise your energy levels. #wotw

    1. Thank you Cheryl. I love ‘tree daisies’ too – I suspect that is a phrase that will stick!

  5. Sorry you’ve been feeling low, sounds like a combination of life in general and the vaccine. Hope you feel better now. Love tree daisies!

  6. Well done for getting vaccinated! I hope you are feeling better now. The first picture, with Sophie reading a story to Thomas is so wonderful, I love it.

  7. You have so many wonderful things to be thankful for here. I remember watching my boys read to one another; I just loved those times they were getting along!

  8. Snap with the blossom pic! Sorry you have been feeling low this week but hope you have recovered from any after effects of the vaccine. #project365

  9. So sorry to hear you have been feeling low this week. Hope next week is better.

Glad you didn’t get too many side effects with the vaccine.

  10. I am sorry you are not feeling yourself, I felt tired and off colour too after mine so hoping that things are now better for you? I will now look at blossoms and think of tree daisies that is super cute. Can not beat fun in the garden, lets hope the sun comes back soon.

    1. Thanks Clare, I’ve been feeling much better this week so perhaps the vaccine was to blame last week.

  11. Sorry to hear you have been feeling a bit low. There might be something in the air as I am feeling the same this week. Sending you caring thoughts in this comment! Awww that’s lovely Sophie reads to her little brother. I am pleased your side effects weren’t too bad and you have joined the vaccinated club! “tree daisies” how sweet is that name! I might have to start calling them that.
