Friday Focus 28/08/2026 – Beach

We had a night away earlier this week and enjoyed a couple of trips to the beach. We had an evening walk along the beach at Selsey and then had a day at West Wittering before heading back home again.

Sophie and Thomas loved getting to swim in the sea. While we were splashing about in the waves, we bumped into a boy from Thomas’s class whose sister used to be in Sophie’s class at school. They’d set up their spot on the beach just behind us! It’s not the first time we’ve bumped into people from home at West Wittering. It’s just under 2 hours away from us but is probably our closest sandy beach. We bought a beach tent to take with us this year which was handy for changing in but it was also good for giving Thomas a chill-out space.

What I’ve been grateful for this week:

Thomas looking at a pond; my WOS friends at Chitty; Sophie and Thomas on the beach at sunset; Sophie and Thomas in the sea; a chai latte; a script for Doctor Dolittle; a rainbow

  • Day 226 – I am grateful that Sophie enjoyed her Wild Teens sleepover and that looking for wildlife in the pond helped keep Thomas entertained while waiting to pick her up.

  • Day 227 – I am grateful for a WOS trip to see Sophie in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

  • Day 228 – I am grateful for an evening walk along the beach.

  • Day 229 – I am grateful for a day at the beach.

  • Day 230 – I am grateful for a nice chai latte after a successful shopping trip for new pointe shoes.

  • Day 231 – I am grateful for being able to fit in some rehearsal time between dropping Sophie off at her show and picking her up!

  • Day 232 – I am grateful for rain.

Other things that have made me smile this week:

  • Trying on my costume for Doctor Dolittle.

  • Catching up with a couple of friends who came to see Sophie in Chitty.
