I suspect I won’t be alone in choosing hot as my word for the week this week! The heat has certainly been extreme and we are very grateful for fans, ice lollies, cool showers and shade!

Both Sophie and Thomas have had school closures as a result of the heat this week – Sophie’s school has been closed since Wednesday with school work set to do at home and Thomas has been in for mornings only since Tuesday. Sophie was also due to do a schools matinee on Wednesday but this was also cancelled because of the heat. Dance lessons were also cancelled this week as Sophie’s dance teacher is away on holiday so it’s been a quieter week activity-wise, which is just as well in this heat!
What I’ve been grateful for this week:

- Day 170 – I am grateful that Sophie had a fun time enjoying some bushcraft on her school residential trip.
- Day 171 – I am grateful for some time for myself, sitting outside the theatre listening to the applause at the end of the show while waiting to pick up Sophie.
- Day 172 – I am grateful for a nice Father’s Day lunch out.
- Day 173 – I am grateful for a little after-school treat.
- Day 174 – I am grateful for fans helping to keep us cooler whilst also providing entertainment when balloons are added.
- Day 175 – I am grateful for seeing the axolotls at the garden centre.
- Day 176 – I am grateful for a water fight to help cool the kids down.
Other things that have made me smile this week:
- Gorgeous pink peonies in Jessica’s vase.

- Sophie being allowed to try operating the Polynesia puppet for Doctor Dolittle at the audition prep session.

- Meeting a friend for breakfast.
- Sophie holding Thomas’s hand on the school run.
- Being cast at Gertie Blossom in Doctor Dolittle.

What lovely peonies. It’s been so hot hasn’t it. N’s had mocks, but the school had to still close on Thursday as they just couldn’t get the classrooms cool down overnight.
