The Friday Focus – 24/10/14

This week’s word of the week is:

WOTW 24-10-14

With Sophie’s first birthday party planned for this weekend and hubby away all week, it’s been a busy week of planning, shopping and baking. I can hardly believe that my baby girl is about to turn one – how fast the last year has gone. I’m looking forward to seeing friends and family on Saturday and celebrating my little girl’s birthday with them.

Here’s a summary of how this week has been:

Out and About:
We had a lovely day out as a family last Sunday, heading into London to see the poppies at the Tower of London.

Fun at home:
Jessica helped me bake some fairy cakes earlier this week to take into Tiny Talk for Sophie’s birthday. She gets to have her own bowl of cake mix (and I then keep her cakes separate from the rest so she can lick the spoon as much as she likes!)

Time for me:
Having my first day out and about on my own last Saturday to go to Blog Camp was utterly blissful. Hubby and I also had our first evening out with no little ones and enjoyed a meal with friends whilst Grandma and Granddad looked after the girls. After more than a year of not having any significant ‘time out’ it was lovely to enjoy some adult company and not just be ‘mummy’ and ‘daddy’.

My happiest moment:
Seeing the girls enjoying the Halloween themed Tiny Talk toddler signing class this week – they looked so cute in their little cat costumes and Sophie had ‘Happy Birthday’ sung to her for the first time.

Next week I would like to:
Well last week I hoped to find time to make at least one of the cushions that I need to get finished before the beginning of December but I didn’t manage to do this (although I did get the letter shapes cut out) so going to try again with this one!

  1. SNAP! We’ve chosen the same word for #WotW!! How funny 🙂 Sounds like you’ve had a really enjoyable week with a few ‘firsts’ in there too. Hope you can keep up the me time and time out with your hubby. That’s something I need to do more of – date nights with hubby! Enjoy your weekend.

    1. Oh yes, it was a very enjoyable week even if it has been busy. Will be trying to get another date night with hubby in before too long – it was so nice to have a night out together 🙂

  2. I hope you all have a lovely day celebrating and those costumes are gorgeous! I’m sorry I didn’t get to say hello last weekend-it’s so easy to miss people isn’t it at events like that x

    1. Thank you – and no problem about not getting to say hello – there were lots of people there and as you say, it is very easy to miss people at events x

  3. Love the costumes! Your little ones looked so adorable in them 🙂 That photo of the poppies sprawled in the lawn of the Tower of London is amazing. Haven’t seen it, would love to see it… soon! 🙂 #wotw.

    1. Thank you – I loved their costumes too. Would definitely recommend going to see the poppies – they’re quite something! 🙂

  4. Oh, your little kittens!!! So cute! Glad you enjoyed blog camp, it was so lovely to meet you, and I do hope you have a wonderful family weekend and Happy Birthday to Sophie xx Thanks for sharing with #WotW

    1. Thank you – was lovely to meet you too at blog camp. Hope you have a lovely weekend too 🙂

  5. Oh that was a busy week Louise, and don’t the girls just look absolutely adorable in their cat costumes?! 🙂 I like your idea of giving your daughter her own cake mix and wrappers too – saves on the mess I expect!! Have a fab weekend X #wotw

    1. Thank you – loved them in those costumes. Giving Jessica her own bowl of cake mix definitely makes cleaning up much easier – and if she just wants to eat it out of the bowl then, that is also fine 🙂

  6. Aww! What adorable kittens!! It looks and sounds like you’ve had a great week!
I hope Sophie has a wonderful birthday party! Happy Birthday little one x

  7. Happy Birthday lovely Sophie! I hope you all have a wonderful day of celebrating. 🙂

What a great idea to give your Jessica her own cake mix and cases. I am definitely going to do that next time I’m baking with Bubs.

    1. Thank you – she had a lovely time at her party today. Definitely recommend giving little ones their own bowl and cases – most of the time I’m baking to give to other people so it means they don’t have to eat cakes where my toddler has licked the spoon! 🙂

    1. Thank you – has been a lovely week and Sophie had such a lovely time at her birthday party x

  8. It sounds like you’ve had a great week, I love your gorgeous little girls’ cat costumes, they’re fab! Happy 1st Birthday to Sophie, I hope she had a brilliant party! #HappyDays xx

  9. I am so jealous you have seen those poppies, they look so beautful- especially the pictures you see from high up, makes me feel emotional.
How cute do they look all dressed up?! I have matching outfits for mine too, can’t wait for Friday!
