The Friday Focus – 19/02/16

We’ve had a poorly Sophie for the last couple of days thanks to an attack of croup. It’s resulted in some rough nights for us all and lots of time indoors having snuggles during the day. She fell asleep in my arms on Wednesday – which is almost unheard of these days. Whilst it wasn’t nice that she was poorly, I have to confess I did quite enjoy having my sleepy bubba in my arms for a while. Yesterday was a little better, so fingers crossed that she is on the mend now. Jessica has been quite concerned about her little sister and constantly asking her “are you okay, Sophie?” and wanting to “gentle Sophie” (Jessica-speak for stroking Sophie’s hands and hair). It’s lovely to see the concern although it’s not always been very well-received by a grumpy Sophie!

Croup - this week's word of the week - The Friday Focus 19/02/16 - Little Hearts, Big Love

Trying to keep both girls amused whilst being stuck indoors has been a little challenging at times – thank goodness for crafts and baking! Fortunately we did manage to get out and about earlier in the week before the croup struck and enjoy some fun moments together.

Things I have loved this week:

  • An afternoon with hubby’s cousin and her two children who were visiting from Luxembourg.

  • Having a spare room all ready for guests thanks to hubby moving furniture around and putting the day bed together.

  • A movie evening with the girls, snuggling on the sofa together watching Toy Story and eating popcorn.
  • Learning how to grow vegetables at the Innocent Sow and Grow event.

  • Going for a walk at Langley Country Park and making the most of some sunshine.

  7. Hi Louise, I hope Sophie is on the road to recovery and I know exactly what you mean about enjoying a snuggle with a child when they are sick. They are so small and vulnerable that you just want to squeeze them tight.

It sounds as if you had a busy week despite Sophie getting sick and as always I love the pictures of your girls, they always look so cute.

    xx

  10. I hope health comes back to your house! We have been down with the flu this past two weeks – it’s making its way around everyone in the house. That’s so nice you got to see the cousins from Luxemburg – how exciting!! I bet the girls enjoyed that. #HappyDays

  11. So sweet that Jessica wants to give Sophie ‘gentles’, that’s gorgeous! I hope that Sophie’s on the mend now, and that you got plenty of snuggles in the meantime. Looks like a good week with plenty of highlights, a movie night with popcorn and Toy Story sounds like lots of fun!

    1. Thanks Robyn – it is lovely that she wants to help make her sister feel better. She still a bit under the weather today but hopefully will be back to her usual happy self again soon.

  12. Awww how lovely that Jessica wanted to look after Sophie. That’s really made me smile. It sounds like you have had a good week despite the croup, I hope that Sophie is all better now, it’s not nice when they are poorly but one silver lining is the cuddles
