Friday Focus 17/02/17 – Enjoying being together over half-term

The girls have been on half-term this week and I have enjoyed us all being together again this week. I’ve settled in to the routine of school and preschool now. The little window of time I have to myself in a normal school week is wonderful, but I do miss having both my girls at home all day.  It’s been lovely to step out of our usual routine and just have fun together. To be able to have a leisurely morning, head out on an adventure during the day, or have a whole afternoon just to sit and do some “making” is utterly blissful. We’ve been able to go and spend a couple of days visiting family and life generally has felt more relaxed. The only downside is that my nieces don’t have their half-term until next week so the girls only managed to have an evening together – still, that’s better that not being able to spend time together at all!

Together - this week's word of the week

Things I have loved this week:

  • The big smile on Sophie’s face all the way through her ballet class.
  • Baking cakes with Jessica and Sophie so Jessica could take cakes to church for all her Girls’ Brigade friends.
  • Going for a walk around Ankerwycke with Grandma and seeing all the snowdrops.

Me, Jessica and Sophie on our walk around Ankerwkye

  • Having a sleepover at Auntie Loraynne’s.
  • Getting a beautiful bouquet of flowers from hubby for Valentine’s Day (the girls were a little confused and wondered if it was Mummy’s birthday!)
  • Starting some nature notebooks with Jessica and Sophie and having fun sticking leaves and creating nature collages whilst out for a walk.

  • Seeing how much Jessica and Sophie have enjoyed having more time together over half-term.

  1. Ah, so lovely to have time together. You do get used to the routine, but it is great to be off – our half term is this coming week and I’m looking forward to it. Love the look of those nature books, lovely idea x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

  2. What a lovely week you have had, we have half term next week. I love seeing snowdrops appear as it means Spring is right round the corner. Have a lovely weekend. #WotW

    1. Thanks Caroline – it has been a lovely week even if it has gone by a bit quickly for my liking. Hope you have a lovely half-term 🙂

  3. It is nice to have the week where you don’t have to rush about, our half term is this week and I’m really looking forward to it.

    1. Thank you. We all had a sleepover – I’m also not yet ready for kiddy-only sleepovers even with my sisters!

  4. Yes, being together has been our focus too and half term has been wonderful. I’m glad you’ve had a brilliant time as well. We have also struggled with the separate half terms in different areas as Lia’s nursery and Libby’s school are in different areas with a different half term.

    1. Thank you Nat. How frustrating that Lia and Libby have different half terms. Does that mean that Easter is also out of sync?

  5. Ahh! I think this might be my word of the week next week. We are just starting our half term and my fella is off work too! It sounds like you have had a lovely week!

  6. We’ve been on half term too this week. I know what you mean about a lazy start to the day. It’s been great not charging off left, right and centre. Sounds like you’ve had a great week. #wotw

    1. It is lovely to have a more leisurely pace to the week. Hope you have had a lovely half term too 🙂

  7. It is so lovely to step out of your normal routine and just be together and do things at your own pace. Your week sounds lovely and well deserved after a full term at school and nursery. We’ve had many a PJ day, put upon us by Little Mister having chicken pox but Mademoiselle has also benefited from slow morning starts too.
This half term there doesn’t seem to be much synergy across counties. We are on half term now but many of our friends aren’t.
Have a lovely weekend and good luck getting back into the routine on Monday

    1. Hope that Little Mister is recovering from the chicken pox. It’s funny how the half terms are so out of sync this time – I think the same might be true for the Easter holidays too x

  8. I love half term, its great just to get the chance to chill together. and bless Sophie loving her ballet class so much, its so great they have hobbies that they love, even if it has us Mums running around like mad women to keep up with it all x

    1. It is lovely to have that time together and be more relaxed. I don’t mind the running around so much as long as the children are enjoying it! 🙂
