We’ve now settled back into normal routines once again and it’s made a big difference to my patience levels! I loved having the girls home for the holidays but having a little time for myself has been much needed. Those three mornings a week are just what I need to recharge my own batteries and I’m a much calmer Mummy for them!
Being back in a routine again has been good for the girls too. That period of separation each day seems to make them enjoy the time they have together a little bit more. I love how happy they are to see each other when Jessica finishes school and they’ve mostly been playing together very nicely in the afternoons too.
Things I have loved this week:
- Catching up with a friend over coffee.
- Jessica’s excitement about being back at Girls’ Brigade.
- Watching both the girls in their ballet classes and seeing how much more confident they are this term.
- Taking the girls’ toy shopping with Jessica’s birthday money and seeing how much fun they had choosing what to buy. We’ve added to our Playmobil collection as a result.
- An afternoon playing board games as a family.
- Having a tea party with Sophie and her toys.
- Listening to Jessica reading books at bedtime.
- Going for a walk around Burnham Beeches with Sophie and finding fairy holes in the trees and fairy hats (acorn cups) on the ground.
Everything seems to feel so much better with a routine in place doesn’t it. It looks like you have all had a wonderful week. There’s nothing better than playing games as a family, especially this time of year when it feels all cosy inside. Have a lovely weekend x
Thank you. I think we’re all a little more settled for it!
I’m so glad it’s all going so well and it looks like you’ve had a lovely week x

Thank you Anne, it has been a lovely week 🙂
Oh gosh yes, I have found I’m a lot more patient since the summer holidays ended too! I’m glad everything is going well for you all with the return to school.

Thank you Nat. It’s amazing what a difference being back in a routine makes! 🙂
It does make a difference having time apart again. I’m glad routine is suiting you all. Love hunting for acorn hats. I picked up a few yesterday, ready for crafting. #wotw
I like the idea of crafting with them – the girls would love that 🙂
It is nice to have a little time to ourselves….I am a lot more patient now. hehehe
It looks like you had a lovely week. x
Thanks Kim, that bit of me time is much appreciated! 🙂
I know just what you mean! When you’re trying to juggle lots of things, patience tends to slip, but having time to get things done means you can enjoy being in the moment with the kids more – I can relate! Glad you’ve all had a good week x Thanks for sharing with #WotW
I’ve definitely enjoyed being in the moment more – having that time for myself has meant I’m less distracted when the girls are back home x
It is so nice to get some time back to yourself isn’t it? I also think space between the children is a good thing too. It makes them enjoy each others company more #WotW
I think we’ve all benefited from a little space! 🙂
I caught up with some friends over a coffee this week too – was really nice. #wotw
Glad you enjoyed catching up with friends too 🙂
Ah that’s such a sweet idea to make the acorns “fairy hats”. You’ve inspired me to do a nature trail type thing with my own girls looking for fairy things!
Thank you – it makes a walk so much more fun when we’re looking for fairies – the girls love spotting the things that the fairies left behind! 🙂
Aw sounds like a lovely week to relax and enjoy X #wotw
Thank you, it has been a lovely week 🙂
