The Friday Focus – 12/12/14

I think the drama and poorliness of the last couple of weeks have caught up with me a bit this week as my general feeling this week has been just:

The Friday Focus 12/12/14 - Little Hearts, Big Love

I’ve had a few unsettled nights, lots of thoughts churning through my head and have generally not managed enough sleep this week. We’ve got our Christmas concert coming up this weekend and I’ve done most of the Christmas shopping so am hoping for a little bit of a lull before the Christmas rush begins. And a bit more sleep would be good too!

Out and About:
We had a couple of days visiting my mum last weekend and catching up with my twin sister which was lovely although Sophie was still quite poorly and wanting lots of cuddles! My mum looked after her whilst Jessica and I went to the Christmas fayre organised by my friends Lisa and Ashley in memory of their daughter Amelia and I was so pleased that they managed to raise over £2000 for Epilepsy Research UK through it.

We also went out for a Christmas meal with Grandma and Grandad and some friends from church and whilst neither Sophie nor Jessica were particularly bothered about their roast turkey, the chocolate Yule log went down very well!

Fun at home:
My twin sister has recently moved house and has been trying to encourage her two daughters to have a bit of a clear out of toys that they no longer play with which has meant some of these toys have been passed on to Jessica and Sophie. We came home from our weekend away with a box of dolls and some clip on dress-up outfits and both Jessica and Sophie have spent many happy hours sitting on the floor and playing with these dolls – lovely to watch them playing so nicely together too.

Time for me:
I had a night out at the bingo with my mum and sister Maxine whilst my twin sister looked after the girls. It was my first night at bingo since before Jessica was born (I used to love going quite regularly with Mum and Dad years ago) and we had a lovely night out – and I even had a little shout on a line and won £10 which was an added bonus!

My happiest moment:
Watching my little girls playing happily together and hearing Sophie really laugh.

Next week I would like to:
Get a little more sleep and get the Christmas tree up! The dummies will be going on the tree for the baby reindeer and I am a bit apprehensive about how Jessica is going to cope without having them at bedtime but it has to be done.

  1. I feel for you. The lack of sleep is awful. Little T had her best friend sleep-over last night and they woke up so early! So of course that also meant that I was also up. So yep, I’m typing this feeling a little bit groggy. Love the photos of you and your little one. So cute! 🙂 #wotw.

  2. Ah, yes sleep. I’ve found that especially elusive recently-just makes everything seem like much harder work doesn’t it, when you don’t get enough. I hope you get to catch up and isn’t it lovely to hear the children laughing together as they play xx

    1. Definitely much harder when sleep is elusive and more frustrating when the children are sleeping well and you’re still sleep-deprived! Fingers crossed that we both can catch up on sleep over the weekend x

  3. Ah yes, a yule log will always go down well! I’m not surprised you’re tired, after the poorliness and with loads going on. I do hope the dummy-loss goes well. I keep thinking we need to take Little Man’s off him, as Boo had hers taken by his age, but I’m too nervous! Just a few more weeks, I think..! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

    1. I’m quite nervous about the dummy-loss too but it’s starting to affect her teeth now and I really want to get it over with before Christmas so going to have to bite the bullet and go for it – fingers crossed! Lovely to link up to #WotW again x

    1. It has been tiring but I think yours sounded quite tiring from an emotional point of view too. Hope you have a good weekend x

  4. Ah sorry to hear you’re so tired lovely, though it is understandable! Looks like you managed to have some lovely happy times this week too though! Hope you get some more sleep and feel better soon! Xx

    1. Thank you – we have had some fun moments – now that our Christmas concert has finished, hopefully I can catch up on some sleep before the hecticness of Christmas itself 🙂

  5. Sounds like a lovely week despite the tiredness! Hope you get to catch up with yourself soon xxx #Wotw

  6. Wow! What an amazing amount your friends raised in memory of Amelia. I hope that the money helps to prevent another family from going through such an awful experience and my thoughts will be with Amelia’s parents at Christmas.

I’m sorry you’re feeling so tired. Hopefully things will calm down next week for you.

    1. Thank you – was really pleased for them that they did so well with their Christmas fayre and are doing so much to help raise awareness.

Hoping that next week will be a less tiring one too – fingers crossed! 🙂

  7. Ooooooh you are brave getting rid of the dummies. I honestly don’t know how I am ever going to do it. A lovely way to do it though, I hope it goes well.
Thank you so much for joining in with our HappyDaysLinky xx

    1. Thanks Katy – fingers crossed it isn’t too traumatic – have been putting it off for a while but know I need to do it now. Lovely to link up to #HappyDaysLinky again 🙂

  8. Sleep? What is that? LOL! No, I know, not funny really. I hope you can catch up with your sleep this week. The Xmas dinner looks lovely.
When my daughter gave her dummie up she complained for one or two nights and that was it. Hope it goes smoothly for you 🙂

    1. Thank you – fingers crossed giving up dummies will go as smoothly for my little one as it did for yours 🙂

  9. I’m sorry you’ve been feeling so tired, I hope you can get some good sleep over the next week before Christmas madness kicks off. Lovely that you had a night out with you mum, and that you won some! Cute pic of you and your girls in your cracker hats 🙂 Jess x

  10. Hope you get a good rest soon – things get so busy this time of year and added stresses like illness definitely don’t help! Love the photos from this week and well done on winning in the bingo! 🙂

    1. Thank you – have managed to get a little more sleep so far this week so feeling more rested at the moment 🙂

  11. Oh lack of sleep sucks – I hope the nights are a bit more settled from now on.

Heh, I’ve not been to Bingo for years but I remember it was INTENSE!

Good luck with the dummies – hope Sophie copes OK without them.

Thanks so much for linking up with our #happydayslinky over the last few months – hope you will join us again in the New Year, have a wonderful Christmas. 🙂

    Jenna at Tinyfootsteps xx

    1. Thanks Jenna – has been a bit better this week sleep-wise. It’s Jessica giving up dummies – Sophie’s never had one – but we’ve had two nights so far and other than taking longer to settle her for the night so far it’s going reasonably well. Lovely to link up to #happydayslinky each week and look forward to joining in again in the New Year – hope you have a wonderful Christmas too x
