The Christmas decorations have been taken down and packed away and it’s back to normality again with Sophie and Thomas being back at school this week and getting back to their usual routines with their various activities.
I’ve enjoyed being able to have a slower start to the year and have been taking it easy this week. It’s been good to be able to give myself some space during the day to rest and recover from the busyness of the last few weeks and to let go of some of the stress.
What I’ve been grateful for this week:
- Day 3 – I am grateful for standing in the back garden looking at the Moon and Venus.
- Day 4 – I am grateful that Sophie had so much fun performing in panto and for getting to see her last show today.
- Day 5 – I am grateful that Sophie enjoyed seeing her BYT friends and starting rehearsals for her next show.
- Day 6 – I am grateful for Lego Minecraft.
- Day 7 – I am grateful for a little bit of time to play in the snow before going back to school.
- Day 8 – I am grateful for sleepy snuggles.
- Day 9 – I am grateful for a sunny morning for a winter walk.
Other things that have made me smile this week:
- Going to the after-show party for the panto.
- Quiet time to just sit and enjoy an uninterrupted cup of tea.

It’s always nice to get back to normality after Christmas and all the busyness it brings. It sounds like you’ve had a lovely relaxing and gentle start to the year.
That transformer at the after-party barely fits in that room by the looks of it, what a great costume!
There should be some more planets visible this month which is just amazing to see.
Have a lovely weekend.
I have enjoyed getting back into a normal routine this week.
It’s non-stop for Sophie, straight from the panto to a new show! It sounds like she’s really enjoying it.
Normality is most welcome after the Christmas and New Year. Seeing the moon and Venus together was a really cool. Apparently all the planets are going to be aligned later this month.
Sounds like a nice week, although one panto finishes, then onto the next show already. I need to dig out my proper camera in preparation for some good skies – my phone just doesn’t cut it at night when I’m tired.
I’m craving normality. 🙂 Glad your week was positive. Well done to Sophie for finishing the panto! Sleepy snuggles are so precious. I miss the days of Lego, as now that my son is 14, he has different interests.
I usually hate getting back to normal after Christmas, not so much that I love Christmas but I do like the change of pace and lack of routine. And as the kids have got older they are really not bothered about Christmas at all so it’s all pretty boring really. So packing it all away and saying goodbye for another year was just a job I didn’t feel like doing but I had no regrets getting rid of it all. I’m glad you’ve been able to take things easy and the after panto party looks fun.
Yes, when the tree gets taken down our brains begin to adjust to the normal routine outside of Christmas. The pace slows down too and we get on with things. Great job getting it all done and also taking time for yourself too. Hope the back-to-school routines settle in soon.
I hated coming home after holiday and the new year to taking the decorations down, then going straight back into work and it being full time and January just seems to drag so, doesn’t it? I’m glad you’ve had a nice calm and peaceful start to 2025 and I hope it continues that way for you and the family x
