Half-term has been somewhat overshadowed by being unwell. I’ve had a horrible cough since the start of half-term which has made me tired and grumpy. Hubby’s away working on an event for the whole of half-term (and has been suffering from the same cough) so it’s not the best timing. I’ve tried to keep going and enjoy some half-term fun with the girls, but I’ve struggled energy-wise. Thankfully, I think it’s starting to ease off now.
Jessica was also unwell in the middle of the week. She had an afternoon of being quite sick and sorry for herself – it turned out that she’d been eating playdough. Hopefully she won’t be doing that again! As the week comes to an end, Sophie has been a little subdued and has been running a fever. I’m hoping that she hasn’t caught the cough I’ve had and will be back to her normal happy self very quickly.
Things I have loved this week:
- A lovely long walk in Langley Park hunting for geocaches.
- Catching up with my family and spending a few days staying with my twin sister.
- An afternoon watching Jessica and Sophie having fun at the fair with their cousins despite the rain!
- Collecting Lego cards and swapping them – although I think I might be enjoying this more than Jessica and Sophie are!
- Baking cupcakes with the girls.
- Making starry night glitter jars.
- Catching up with a friend over several cups of tea and watching our girls having fun together enjoying soft play.
- The start of #30DaysWild and an afternoon enjoying some outdoor painting using natural brushes.
Oh no, sorry to hear you’ve been unwell. I’m glad it is starting to ease off now, but it’s hard when you just want to enjoy time with the girls. Sounds like you’ve still managed to have fun, I hope you have a better weekend x Thanks for sharing with #WotW
Thanks Jocelyn. It has certainly felt like a long week. Still not back to normal but slowly getting there!
Sorry to hear you have been unwell Louise, nothing worse than feeling poorly but having to get on with it. No rest when you are a parent that’s for sure. It’s nice to see you have still managed to have some fun despite being poorly. Have a lovey weekend x #WotW
Thanks Angela. It’s been a tough week but the girls have had lots of fun. I’m quite enjoying being able to rest a bit more this morning while they’re at school and preschool!
Oh no! I hope you all feel better soon! It still sounds like a lovely week.
Oops. Poor Jessica. I bet she won’t eat Play dough again.
Thank you Kim. I suspect she’ll think twice about eating it next time!
Always during the holidays! I think its because we relax. I hope all the coughs go soon. We’ve been joining in the 30 days Wild too. Such fun. It is a great time to catch up with family. We’ve been doing the same. Youngest is collecting the Sainsbury’s Lego cards too. Mainly through his grandparents. I like the idea of the making card. #wotw
Thanks Cheryl. I think you might be right – the bugs hit us at the point where we’re slowing down a bit. I’m really enjoying doing #30DaysWild so far. Glad you are enjoying it too.
Oh dear. This often happens with us when we get a break. Hope all better soon. #wotw
Thanks Ann, we’re slowly getting there x
Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that illness blighted your half term. We had it the week before half term and it dragged on a bit into this week but it’s a relief to have everyone well again now. Poor Jessica learning the hard way about eating play dough!
Nat.x
So glad that you are all better now. We’ve mostly recovered here now! x
I’m sorry to read that you’ve been unwell and eating play doh isn’t great. Get better soon. #WotW
Thanks Helena, we’re almost back to normal now.
Oh no, bugs are rubbish. I hope you’re back to normal very soon. And I know what you mean about the lego cards… I love to see our daughter’s excitement when she gets a pack of the cards! #wotw
Thanks Carol, slowly getting there! I’m not sure who gets more excited about the Lego cards – me or the girls! 🙂
Oh no, it is horrible when your poorly as a parent, no time off, it sucks! I love the Lego cards (and yes it is me more then the boys putting them in their set location lol) Hope you get some rest when hubby returns X #wotw
Thank you, it’s been a little easier with him back home this week 🙂
Ah bless her I wonder how she managed to eat it it tastes blooming awful, but a lesson learnt for her, such a shame it made her sick, hope you cough is better now xx
Thanks Sarah – yes, a lesson learned the hard way! The cough is getting better – not gone yet but hopefully on the way out!
