Langley Park is one of our favourite places to go for a walk. The Temple Gardens is especially beautiful at this time of year with all the rhododendrons in bloom and the girls were keen to explore and see all the “pretty flowers in the trees.”
I let the children decide which route we would take through the gardens which was great as we got to see much more of the gardens then we do when I set the route! The gardens are a wonderful place to fire up imagination and Jessica, in particular, kept me entertained with all the tales she wove around them. I heard about the dinosaurs who would be visiting the gardens in the summer to eat the leaves off the trees, and the fairies who liked to eat the “bumpy flowers” on the bushes.
It seemed there were fairies peeping around the corner wherever we went – if only we were quick enough to spot them before they darted out of sight. We were enchanted by the views we saw of the world they inhabited, especially the miniature adventure playground we stumbled upon in an old yew which had clearly been created by magical beings. Jessica and Sophie were quite excited to find the fairies’ slide and their toys seemed to enjoy having a go on it too!
The yew was also just the right size for two little girls to try climbing it, with lots of branches lower down. There were nice wide branches to sit on and a perfect little den in the middle of the tree. Clearly it was the perfect spot for the fairies to weave their magic too!
Having explored the fairies’ playground, of course we couldn’t leave without the children exploring a playground that was just the right size for them too! The playground at Langley Park is one of our favourites as it is perfect for little ones. There are tunnels to crawl through, mounds to climb, little wooden houses to sit in, a huge slide that the girls can go down together (although Sophie is going through a phase of being a little scared of big slides) and best of all, swings that go “really high!”
It was a perfect way to spend a spring afternoon – a lovely walk, time in a playground and the opportunity to see a whole new world thanks to the power of imagination. Who knows what magic adventures we’ll create on our next visit?

I love how their imaginations are developing. Of course dinosaurs, and fairies live here! It looks so beautiful with the summer azaleas coming out and the lovely sunshine. It is such a beautiful place to visit but even more so when viewed through a child’s imagination. The Yew tree is our favourite spot – now that we’ve discovered it we have to go there every time so the toys can go on the fairy slide 🙂

There’s nothing like a walk in the woods or the park is there? I have such fond memories of taking my children when they were all “What’s that daddy?” and “How did that get there daddy?” Now they know more I ask them, and sometimes their answers are very creative, if not accurate.

What a lovely day! I haven’t been to Langley Park but Emma loves being outside and particularly loves trees…it’s amazing the calming effect it has on her! I think she’d love to be able to sit on them, and mooch around. I see your little one is a fan of Sula too, it caught my eye as we have to carry her around everywhere too! Xx #triballove #familyfun
