An afternoon at the Lido

One of Jessica’s birthday presents last year was a bike. At the time it was really too big for her and so she hasn’t had much of a chance to ride it but with the lovely sunny weather last weekend, it seemed a good time to head over to Ruislip Lido for a walk and an opportunity for Jessica to finally ride her bike.

It was quite a surprise that not only was the bike no longer too big for her, but that the saddle may now actually be too low! A reminder that these little ones grow far too quickly sometimes.

An afternoon at the Lido - Little Hearts, Big Love An afternoon at the Lido - Little Hearts, Big LoveAlthough Jessica enjoyed being on her bike and knew where to put her feet, she couldn’t quite grasp the concept of pedalling and so ended up being pushed along instead. Sophie was quite happy sitting in her little trike and watching the world go by.

Jessica also enjoyed the helter-skelter style slide which was quite high and I did get quite nervous seeing Jessica make her way to the top but she was having a wonderful time with the bigger children who were also sliding on it. They were all very good too about being patient with her taking a bit longer to climb the steps and made sure they waited for her to be off the slide too before they slid down.

  1. I love your girls matching playsuits, these look so cosy and practical for exploring outdoors and not worrying about falling over or puddle splashes. Well done to the girls on their bikes and what a wonderful looking park. Clearly funj all the way and delightful photos. Thank you for joining me for Country Kids.

  2. We went to Ruislip lido last Summer for a birthday party. Loved it! Looks like Jessica’s enjoying riding her bike. That pixie hat is so cute on Sophie! Where did you get it? xx

    1. Thanks Mel. The pixie hat is the hood of Sophie’s cardigan which was made for her by one of my mum’s friends. I love it and because it’s a hood she can’t lose it! 🙂

  3. Looks like they had a great outing and swings as well as biking has to be a bonus. We just got one of the trike things for our youngest’s 1st birthday – is yours good? Hoping to take it out when eldest is zooming with her balance bike. We aren’t quite onto real bikes here yet! #countrykids

    1. Thank you – yes we’ve been pleased with the trike. Jessica has a balance bike too but seems better on her bike, probably because of the stabilisers

  4. Looks like a lovely day out. Sophie looks like a little teddy on the roundabout. 🙂 super cute! Bikes are hard work for little ones aren’t they? We found for the pedalling aspect, let them play in the garden, or if clean and space, in the house… once grasped, out in the wild… we are now at the stage where she needs to pick up speed now!! Yes they do grow very quick. #countrykids

  5. They both look so cute in their outdoor outfits. Neither of my two have found cycling easy to begin with-it’s quite a knack isn’t it. Lovely photo’s of what looks like a fun time out.

  6. Wow, what a big girl she is on her lovely bike. Looks like a fab family day out #countrykids

  7. It’s nice to see families making the most of local nature areas, even when they’re out of season. We visited Ruislip Lido a few years back in summer and thought it offered a nice selection of attractions. I’d love to take our little one on the mini railway in years to come

    1. Thank you, it was a lovely afternoon out. Lovely to link up to #LetKidsBeKids again 🙂
