#365daysofgratitude – Week 45

For the last two years, I have taken part in a daily gratitude challenge – sharing one photo a day on Instagram of something I am grateful for. It’s taught me to look for the little things and has made me a more positive person. It has not always been easy to find something to be grateful for each day though, especially since losing my beautiful daughter Jessica in April. Jessica’s zest for life, her strength and the joy that she gave to all who knew her have always inspired me. I continue with this challenge every day in honour of her.

Day 308 – I am grateful for a lovely day celebrating Thomas’s christening with friends and family. He wore his grandad’s christening gown and his daddy’s christening shawl. Such a beautiful and bittersweet day. Sophie was a proud big sister and I know Jessica would have been incredibly proud of her little brother too.

Day 309 – I am grateful for sleepy snuggles while getting out for an afternoon walk.

Day 310 – I am grateful that this little lady of mine has settled in to school so well. She has made us proud tonight with a glowing report at parents’ evening. Top sets for phonics and maths and popular with her classmates but more importantly she is kind and caring. Well done Sophie!

Day 311 – I am grateful for little reminders that Jessica is remembered by others. My friend sent me this photo of her godson. He was asked to draw a picture of a person who had passed away in the remembrance cross for a service at school on Friday. He chose Jessica.

Day 312 – I am grateful that I was able to borrow a small fridge as mine has stopped working. Fortunately it was fairly bare as I needed to do some shopping so I haven’t had to throw too much away either.

Day 313 – I am grateful that hubby arrived home in time to help with bedtime this evening.

Day 314 – I am grateful that hubby wasn’t grumpy about getting caught in a very heavy downpour without a waterproof or umbrella after I dragged him and Sophie out for some geocaching.
