From the mouths of babes #91 – Baby Rose

From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!

A big thank you to everyone who linked up last week.  I loved Hank’s brave admission about his anger shared by Conversations with Hank and the way that conversation ended.  Le Coin de Mel made me smile with her latest family update – I loved reading about Wriggly telling Mummy that she was a “funny gul” and her settling herself in at her sister’s preschool.

A cork baby "Rose" in a Moses basket - From the mouths of babes #91 - Baby Rose

Each afternoon when I pick up Jessica from school, she and Sophie insist that we have to wait for her friends H and E to come out so we can walk part of the way home with them.  Often the four children walk across the playground holding hands together which never fails to make my heart-melt (although can make navigating a busy playground somewhat tricky!)  One day last week, H came running over to Sophie and grabbed her hand while we waited for Jessica to come out.  One of the boys in Jessica’s class, J spotted H holding Sophie’s hand which prompted the following conversation:

J: (sounding slightly disgusted) “Why are you holding her hand?”

H: (matter-of-factly) “Because I love her.”

J: (even more disgusted) “Ewww.  Are you going to marry her?”

H: (equally disgusted at the suggestion): “No!”

It didn’t stop him wanting to hold her hand though!

Jessica has enjoyed listening to the story of baby Moses at Girls’ Brigade and made a baby in a basket to take home.  I think she might have misheard the story a little because she keeps telling me to look after her “Baby Rose” in the basket.

If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.

Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying!

Ah, love the baby moses story. I find N always stands up for his phrases, even when I explain they’re not quite right.

We get that sometimes here too – it’s funny but a bit frustrating sometimes! 🙂

My preschooler told me that she’s “never ever going to watch grown-up movies because there’s kissing and that’s disgusting.”
