From the mouths of babes #54

From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!

A big thank you to everyone who linked up last week. I loved the video of Boo doing “round and round the garden” which Odd Socks and Lollipops shared as part of Boo’s 2 year update. I also loved Occupation (M)other’s list of some of the 18 million (or thereabouts!) things she loves about her son – him asking “what’s the story in Balamory?” when she returns home made me laugh.

Sophie has come out with a couple more toddler-isms which I love this week:

“Barf” (giraffe)

“On de udder side” (on the other side) which gives me a mental image of milking a cow every time she says it!

Hubby was working from home a couple of days last week which meant I could leave Sophie at home whilst doing the preschool run. Sophie tends to object to being left at home though. As she was starting to protest one morning last week, Jessica gave her a big cuddle and said “Don’t worry, Sophie. Mummy will be back soon, my darling.” Heart-melt moment.

If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.

This week, I’m also linking up my latest Siblings update. Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying!

  1. Oh isn’t it sweet when they say things like that to each other – I think it show not only is Jessica a great big sister but you are a great mum as she is modelling you. xx

    1. Thank you Maddy – I’m glad that she mostly repeats the nicer things I say rather than the grumpy mummy moments which thankfully I rarely hear parroted back again!

  2. Barf – that’s great! & ‘udder side’! I think that’s the side of a cow you really don’t want to see anyone on! Thanks for hosting! #ftmob

    1. It was so adorable – love the way that Jessica can be so protective of her little sister 🙂

  3. Ah! Those mispronounced words, aren’t they funny? Especially when they sound like something rude! You can always tell the people that don’t have kids. They just look at the child and think ‘did I really hear him say what I thought he said?’

The innocence of childhood, i just love it.

    1. It is funny when they sound a bit dodgy – apart from perhaps when they’re shouted out loudly at church (as has happened once or twice to me!) 🙂

    1. Lol, it does make me laugh whenever she says “de udder side” and yes lovely to see that bond between them too 🙂

  4. Love Sophie’s take on “de udder side”.
It’s lovely that your girls have that special bond too,
    Lovely little ladies.
    Thanks for hosting 🙂
