From the mouths of babes #49

From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!

A big thank you to everyone who linked up last week. I loved Becoming a Stay at Home Mum’s post about all the funny things that Monkey is saying at three and a half – “I love hookers, they’re my favourite!” particularly made me chuckle. Writing Bubble found herself trying to reason with her two-year-old when he became convinced that they were off to get a polar bear and convinced him that it would be a much better idea to make polar bear biscuits – the end result was not quite what she had planned though!

From the mouths of babes #49 - Chatting and choreography - Little Hearts, Big Love

Jessica is quite a little chatterbox and her constant stream of chat makes me chuckle at times. Mealtimes are when she is at her most chatty, and this is when she tends to tell me what she did at preschool (her usual reply to any questions being “I don’t know” at other times!). Last week she told me that “the other children all sat nicely on the mat, Mummy, and I was very pleased with them!” which made me laugh.

Once she decides she’s had enough of talking though, she will often say something like “enough talking, Mummy, I want to have my lunch in peace!”

On arriving home from the Families of Ocean Ward Christmas party last week, Jessica decided that she wanted to make up a dance and tried to teach it to Sophie. Sophie was more interested in wandering around and just joining in as and when the mood took her but Jessica was quite happy repeating the steps over and over again to herself, which were as follows: “clap, stamp, stamp your other leg, pull your dress, play with your nose, nod your head, move your body and move your body more quickly”. She must have repeated this at least ten times and I was quite impressed that the actions were in the same order every single time – although “move your body backwards” was added a little later on at the end.

If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.

Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying this week.

  4. At the risk of posting twice, I think my comment disappeared somewhere and I have to say that this is unbelievably gorgeous. If I now have written two comments, I think Jessica’s dance deserves it. 🙂

    1. Aww thank you Kyles – the comments did disappear into the spam for some reason, not sure why. I loved watching Jessica do her little dance over and over. So glad that you enjoy the linky – I always love reading all the things that everyone’s little ones have been saying too 🙂
