From the mouths of babes is a weekly linky which invites you to share a post, old or new, about something your children have said. Those adorable mispronounced words, the glimpses into their imaginations, the blunt observations – whatever it is, I’d love to hear about it!
It’s my birthday tomorrow. Jessica has been quite excited about this and has been counting down the sleeps to “Mummy and Auntie Fizz’s birthday”. She is quite sure about what Mummy wants most for her birthday.
“Mummy, can we buy you a toy? You love toys!”
Bless her. I like the idea of letting the girls choose what they thought Mummy would like and seeing what they come up with. Hubby took them shopping yesterday to buy me a birthday present. Trying to keep it a surprise has been a challenge though:
Sophie: “Mummy, we got you a surprise. It’s a…”
Me: (fingers in ears) “La la la, not listening!”
Jessica: “Sophie, it’s a surprise. Don’t tell Mummy!”
Sophie: “Yes, it’s a surprise. We got you a…”
Me: (fingers in ears again) “La la la…”
(and repeat)
I tried hard not to hear but I still have an idea of what I might be unwrapping tomorrow! Three year olds aren’t very good at keeping secrets!
If you have any posts about something that your children have been saying lately, please do come and link up. The linky opens each Monday from 6am and closes on Friday at 11pm so there is plenty of time to link up your posts (old and new posts are welcome!). Please add the badge below to your post so others know where they can also link up (the badge code is below). I will also try and share posts via Twitter – please use the hashtag #ftmob and I’ll do my best to retweet them. I also have a Pinterest board and will be sharing posts here too.
Looking forward to reading what your little ones have been saying!
I keep forgetting to link up!! Here is a little post I’ve wanted to link for ages, but I’ve been disorganised, he he!
I love surprises like that, hahaha! My brother used to be the same with ‘surprises’ and we could never tell him anything (still can’t and he’s 28!!)
Joyeux anniversaire pour demain ma belle!
Lol, it’s easy to forget when life is so busy! Lovely to have you link up again – always love reading your family updates. Merci beaucoup! 🙂
Hello Louise,
Happy birthday for tomorrow, lovely. I hope your unsurprising surprise is delightful! We had a similar thing here recently, with Jet finding it impossible not to talk about the surprise cake I was making for Stella’s birthday. Luckily, she was completely oblivious every time he let the cat out of the bag!
x Alice
Thank you Alice – it was a bear from the Build a Bear shop so seeing what they chose was still a surprise! It’s hard for little ones to keep things a surprise. Glad to hear that Stella was oblivious to Jet letting the cat out of the bag though! 🙂
Hi Louise, by now you will know what your surprise was and I bet it’s a classic! I can imagine your girls faces as they were choosing something for you and I’m sure part of the joy of receiving it is knowing how much they enjoyed choosing it. I hope you had a great birthday and were spoiled rotten.
xx
Thank you Debbie. The girls made me a bear from the Build a Bear shop. I love the fact that they are now old enough to want to choose my present themselves and to have something that they have helped make was extra special x
