Friday Focus 27/02/2026 – Juggling

I feel like I’ve been juggling a lot of balls this week. It’s been a busy one with the last couple of days of dance festival for Sophie, my mother-in-law’s birthday, attending the funeral of a lovely lady who used to do Sunday school at church when my girls were small, trying to catch up on work after half-term and having a busy week with meetings and dealing with various bits of paperwork that needed to be dealt with this week.

The word 'juggling' with juggling balls above the letters

So far, most of the balls have stayed up in the air although I did have a couple of extra trips back-and-forth to home yesterday when taking the children to various activities and then realising en route that something essential had been left behind, so I’ve definitely dropped a couple of balls this week! On the plus side, most of the urgent jobs on the to-do list have been done and next week will hopefully be a less manic one.

What I’ve been grateful for this week:

Sophie holding a bronze medal; Sophie and Thomas on trampolines; a latte; daffodils in the woods; Sophie and Jessica with Jenny, their Sunday school teacher; Thomas painting a model of the Numberblocks Express; a tea loaf - "#365daysofgratitude 2026 - Week 8"

  • Day 51 – I am grateful for two 3rd place medals today for Sophie for her tap solo and with the senior tap group, and another All England Dance qualifying dance with the tap group.

  • Day 52 – I am grateful for a bounce break in the middle of this afternoon’s shopping trip.

  • Day 53 – I am grateful for a lovely family meal out to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday.

  • Day 54 – I am grateful that the views on my walks are getting prettier.

  • Day 55 – I am grateful for a beautiful service celebrating the life of Jenny, for the kind, caring, friendly person she was, for her work with children in our church and for the lovely memories I have, particularly from when my girls were small.

  • Day 56 – I am grateful that Thomas enjoyed doing some painting after school.

  • Day 57 – I am grateful for time to bake.

Other things that have made me smile this week:

  • A lovely message from a church member thanking me for playing the piano for services.

A message thanking me for my piano playing, reading "I would like to express my sincere gratitude for always being present and for sharing your beautiful gift of music with us. The way you play the piano brings such warmth and grace to every service, and it truly makes each moment feel even more meaningful. Thank you for the lovely music you so generously provide. You help transform special occasions into cherished memories, and we are deeply grateful for all that you do."

  • The monster Thomas made at school.

  • The pretty flowers in my monthly flower delivery.
