The Friday Focus – 16/01/15

Jessica is settling into preschool beautifully and Sophie is enjoying being able to have Mummy’s undivided The Friday Focus 16/01/15 - Little Hearts, Big Lovewhilst her big sister is at preschool. We’ve had a lot of snuggles on the sofa and playtime indoors and may try venturing out to a local toddler group in the next couple of weeks. I also get to enjoy one-to-one time with Jessica later in the day whilst Sophie has her nap so being able to give both girls periods of undivided attention is wonderful.   Out and About: At the moment, hubby is able to wait until after I drop Jessica off at preschool before he heads off to work which means I can walk Jessica there and Sophie gets to have a bit of time with Daddy. Jessica and I are both enjoying the short walk – she loves seeing the lollipop lady at the crossing and jumping in any puddles that she can find. I’m so glad that Jessica is enjoying preschool so much – when we got home on Wednesday, she looked up at me as I took off her coat and said “I love my preschool, Mummy” – so pleased that she feels that way about it. A few firsts for Sophie - Little Hearts, Big LoveWe had a lovely moment at our Tuesday morning toddler group this week when Sophie picked up a crayon and drew with it for the first time (instead of trying to eat it). Such a lovely little milestone. Silent Sunday 11/01/15 - Little Hearts, Big Love We also hosted a coffee morning at our church last Saturday as a fundraiser for Little Hearts Matter and Jessica helped me to bake some cheese and bacon scones for this. She loved helping with the baking and was very pleased with her apron that I made for her. The Friday Focus 16/01/15 - Little Hearts, Big Love Fun at home: We recently were given my nieces’ old playhouse and whilst Jessica was at preschool on Monday, hubby and I put it together (with a bit of help from Sophie who was very good at trying to dismantle it at the same time!) as a surprise for Jessica when she came home. As you can imagine she was delighted and we had a wonderful afternoon with both the girls playing house and putting the dollies to bed in the cot, finishing up with a picnic on the blanket in front of the house. The Friday Focus 16/01/15 - Little Hearts, Big Love The Friday Focus 16/01/15 - Little Hearts, Big Love Time for me: I had a lovely manicure and my nails painted for the first time in a very, very long time on Tuesday at the toddler group – they have someone come in once a month so that the mums can have a bit of pamper time whilst the children play but I’ve only taken advantage once or twice and I really should do more often – it was lovely.   On the blog: My ‘From the mouths of babes’ linky is now in its second week and it has been lovely to see quite a few posts linked up which I have enjoyed reading – if you have any posts about the funny, embarrassing or adorable things your children have said, please join in!  My monthly ‘Heart to heart‘ linky also reopened earlier this week and it is good to see a few heart families sharing stories and information through this. I was very flattered to be mentioned by Hope from a Butterfly as one of her top three recommended blogs on her guest post at Chirps from a Little Red Hen – thank you so much! My top post this week has been ‘My struggle to bond with my second baby’ – I was very nervous about being so open with this but wanted to share my story in the hope of helping other mums in a similar situation know they are not alone and it has been a relief that the response has been so positive.   My happiest moment: Seeing Jessica’s face when she came home to find a playhouse had been put up in the front room   Next week I would like to: Get a bit more sleep – have been very bad at staying up far too late this week and I need to be more disciplined about going to sleep at a sensible time! 1. Lovely post – sounds like a happy time for you all right now, long may it continue – and yes get your nails done when you feel like it, it’s such a pretty way to treat yourself x #wotw

  2. I love that playhouse. It does sound like a good week and I hope it continues for a long time. And I’m all for treating yourself, whatever form that might take 🙂

The cheese and bacon scones sound amazing too
It’s nice to be able to have some 1 on 1 isn’t it? I make an effort to do so with my son as the twins take up a lot of time and it’s lovely x

    1. Thank you – it has been lovely to have that one-to-one time and the playhouse has been a huge hit 🙂

  4. Wow the playhouse is fabulous. Attention is one thing we lack in this house. The three of them vie for it all the time, we need more hours in the day! #pocolo

    1. Thank you – I know what you mean, it is hard to give enough attention and more hours in the day would be great! 🙂

  5. How lovely to be able to spend quality and undivided attention with your youngest! I can’t get over though how cute your first born is! Adorable, they both are 🙂 #wotw.

  6. Oh wow, that playhouse! I bet her expression was priceless! So pleased that Jessica’s getting on so well at preschool, and it is then lovely to have that one to one time, isn’t it? Glad it’s working for you x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

  8. There is nothing better than being able to give your kiddies the one on one attention they so rightly deserve. I know a lot of the time it’s not a very easy thing to do. Well done you!xx

  9. Yay!!! Thank you for linking up, you’ve no idea how happy you’ve made me. This is a great round up. Yay that you got to have your nails done, that’s so good, you must’ve felt very special. How lovely that you get to have so much one on one time with the girls, I love the baking pic especially, she looks like a proper little master chef. Very cute. ️XxX #justus2

  10. Wow! That play house is amazing!!! I bet Jessica was super happy when she got home to see that!
I am lucky enough for my partner to stay at home whilst I take bigger ones to school – makes the school run that much easier.

    1. Thank you – she was thrilled. It does make the school run so much easier without having to have to make sure Sophie is ready to go out too.

  11. Such loveliness in your week and in your post! From putting crayon in the mouth to putting crayon to paper, from using crayon as a toy to using crayon as a drawing tool … now that’s a milestone! I look forward to this with mine.

I look forward to joining your ‘From the Mouth of Babes’ linky soon; I just need time to write relevant posts.

I hope you raised a good amount of money and also that you get needed sleep next week. #HappyDaysLinky

    1. Thank you – it was a lovely milestone. Would be lovely to have you join my linky whenever you get a chance. We raised about £75 from the coffee morning which was a good amount and I got to have a lie in this morning so that was good too! 🙂

  12. What a fantastic playhouse. I bet they loved it. It sounds like you had a lovely week. Your post has really made me look forward to Ethan going to school and me being able to do things with Little E. It sounds like you have really settled into a nice routine as a family x

    1. Thank you – the playhouse is a big hit. It has been lovely to have that one to one time and the new routine is working well so far 🙂

  13. I’m really pleased Jessica is enjoying preschool so much, it must be quite a relief to you to know that she loves it. Such a gorgeous picture of her in the apron 🙂 Wonderful that you got some me time – what a nice idea to pamper the mummies at the toddler group! Have a good week, with hopefully some more sleep. Jess xx

  14. It looks like you’ve had a lovely week! That playhouse is fab – and I love the apron too. I definitely agree with the goal to get a bit more sleep though – Arthur had a terrible few nights at the end of last week where he was waking up pretty much every hour. I think it’s his molars, along with a bit of a cold, but I’m hoping it’ll settle down soon! x

  15. I ADORE Jessica’s apron – I’m a little bit jealous actually! So cute that she helped you with the baking, cheese and bacon scones sound yummy too!

It’s nice that you are getting time alone with both girls – I bet they enjoy having mummy to themselves too.

I didn’t realise quite how big that dolls house was until the second picture of it. Wow, it looks like so much fun. 🙂

I’m glad your linky is going well. When I have a little person who talks, I’ll definitely join in.

Thanks for joining in with our #HappyDaysLinky

I’m glad to hear that you’ve had some one-to-one time with both your girlies and a little pampering time for yourself aswell.
I hope you have a great week and manage to grab a bit more sleep xx

  17. That’s a really lovely apron, I’m not surprised that Jessica loves it. How wonderful that she’s enjoying preschool so much too. I’m sure it’s a huge weight off your mind. 🙂

Well done to Sophie for reaching another milestone. It’s great when they stop eating the crayons isn’t it!

    1. Thank you – it was really simple to make but she was so pleased with it. It’s lovely to see Sophie being creative too 🙂
