This week has been a bit of a mishmash. There’s been good moments, frustrating moments, angry moments, grief-storms, calm moments, fun moments, moments of feeling overwhelmed and lovely moments of quality family time. Looking back over the week, there are have been nice things happening, but I’ve been all over the place emotionally with various things that have been going on.

Sophie and I had a lovely shopping trip last Friday to spend her birthday money. She thoroughly enjoyed being able to treat herself to some lovely new clothes and I enjoyed having a nice afternoon out with her. We finished off the day with some nice family time together watching The Traitor’s final and enjoying a takeaway curry.
Saturday was definitely one of those days. I forgot to bring a prop to Sophie’s dance festival and my husband then hit a nasty pothole and punctured a tyre heading out to bring it to me. Fortunately for him, he wasn’t far from home and was able to get back and I managed to find an alternative for Sophie but it made for a stressful start to the day which ended up being quite an emotionally intense one for various reasons. On the plus side, Sophie performed beautifully in both her solos that day, and came second in tap, and we had a lovely evening going out trick-or-treating (Thomas’s first time!) and then having time at home to relax.

On Sunday, I was leading the All Saints service at church, where we had some time remembering those who inspired us but are no longer with us, and Sophie and Thomas had fun making ribbon wands at junior church. I went to another service in the afternoon which was specifically for remembering those we have lost and it was good just to have that quiet time for myself to remember Jessica, hear her name read out and light a candle for her.
Sophie and Thomas were back at school on Monday. I had a nice start to the week with a catch-up with a friend over a walk and coffee, but otherwise it’s been a busy one catching up on things that I’ve not been able to focus on during the two show weeks and half-term, juggling meetings and dealing with some issues that have been a bit stressful. There is definitely a mishmash of clutter in the house that has built up lately and the laundry pile has been mountainous so I’ve also been trying to work through some of that and get it all back under control again too!
Sophie was back to pointe classes on Wednesday after a few weeks’ break due to her pointe classes having been cancelled last half-term. Unfortunately her pointe shoes now seem to be too small and we’ve had to book another pointe shoe fitting, which is very frustrating given she’s only been able to wear them once because of the cancelled classes.
But on the plus side, my husband’s car is all sorted and back on the road, we’ve not had rehearsals this week so have been able to have some time in the evenings playing games together before bed and it’s nearly the weekend!
What I’ve been grateful for this week:

- Day 303 – I am grateful for a shopping trip with Sophie.
- Day 304 – I am grateful that Sophie and Thomas enjoyed going trick or treating.
- Day 305 – I am grateful for a beautiful church service to remember those we have lost and for just being able to be present with my thoughts, my memories and my prayers without having to do anything else.
- Day 306 – I am grateful for autumn colours.
- Day 307 – I am grateful for being able to give blood.
- Day 308 – I am grateful for some time playing games together before bedtime.
- Day 309 – I am grateful for oodies.

It sounds like you have had quite the week!
What a lovely day with shopping but ugh the stressful Saturday. I am glad the day got better.
The church service sounds beautiful.
That is a shame about the pointe shoes. I hope she gets a lot of use out of the new ones.
