13/11/202013/11/2020
The word 'struggling'

I’m struggling with this second lockdown to be honest. I don’t know why really, the changes in our day-to-day life didn’t really feel all that big and I felt well prepared for them.  Maybe I’m just hitting exhaustion levels overall – feeling tired of life being restricted, tired of not being able to visit family,… Read More

We’re going on a scarecrow hunt

12/11/202012/11/2020
Thomas and Sophie next to two scarecrows in a front garden - one sitting at a table with painted rcks and the other on a bicycle

Normally, I would have booked a few activities for October half-term, but this year there were very few outdoor activities taking place due to Covid-19 restrictions. We were glad to find a scarecrow trail taking place around Denham and Harefield which gave us a nice focus for getting outdoors over the half-term break.    … Read More

A picture of a blue dragonfly on a reed with the text "#366daysofgratitude 2020"

At the start of 2016, inspired by a friend, I started a daily gratitude challenge – posting one thing that I was thankful for each day on Instagram. I enjoyed it so much that when I reached the end of that year, I carried on and have kept going ever since. Finding one little thing… Read More

Friday Focus 06/11/20 – Hectic

06/11/202006/11/2020
The word 'hectic'

Half-term was rather a hectic time for us with Sophie’s birthday in the middle of it, plus trying to juggle work and other commitments whilst making the most of being able to have time with Sophie. I didn’t manage to find time to write our weekly update last week and nearly didn’t manage it this… Read More

Autumn walks in Black Park

05/11/202013/11/2020
Thomas sitting in his buggy looking out at the lake at Black Park

I’ve been enjoying getting out for walks with Thomas while Sophie is at school. We often head for one of the country parks as the paths there are mostly buggy-friendly and they’re a nice safe area for Thomas to be able to explore in. Black Park is particularly good for nice long walks as it’s… Read More

Home learning: Making a ‘Great Fire of London’ house

03/11/202013/11/2020
A model of a 1666 house made from cardboard boxes and craft sticks

Sophie has been learning about the Great Fire of London in school recently. Her half-term project was to make a 1666 house to take to school for them to recreate the Great Fire of London. What a great way to bring history to life – although it is a shame that her efforts are destined… Read More
