This week is show week for Calendar Girls and I am absolutely loving being part of this amazing production bringing the show to life for our audiences. We’ve had two performances so far and the feedback has been amazing, not to mention the huge buzz on stage from the audience cheers each time there’s a reveal in the big calendar scene.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing Annie. It’s been a very emotional and challenging part to play, but I hope that I’ve managed to do justice to the role. All the cast in this show are so talented and have done an amazing job at bringing their characters to life. I suspect there’s going to be quite a big post-show comedown after Saturday night but it will be worth it to have been part of this show.

What I’ve been grateful for this week:

- Day 290 – I am grateful for a lovely evening at the Questors Theatre seeing ‘The Gondoliers’.
- Day 291 – I am grateful for an exciting milestone moment for Sophie today – being fitted for her first pair of pointe shoes!
- Day 292 – I am grateful for the excitement of getting into the theatre for show week and having the band call.
- Day 293 – I am grateful for the support that Thomas gets at school and the way that his teacher has tailored rewards to be things that are meaningful for him. Today he was so excited coming out to tell me that he’d earned a ‘Redy’ (one of the ‘Colorball’ characters that he’s invented).
- Day 294 – I am grateful that Sophie enjoyed making her cake model of a cell for her Science homework and sharing it with her classmates.
- Day 295 – I am grateful for an amazing opening night for Calendar Girls and a wonderful audience. Well done everyone!
- Day 296 – I am grateful for the amazing audience reaction to the show.
Other things that have made me smile this week:
- Getting good news about an ongoing health concern with a close family member.
- Sophie spending time with her new high school friends at a birthday party and a get-together on the first day of half-term.
- A sunflower for Jessica in the middle of our show sunflower wall.

- Thomas creating a comic book on “How to earn a Redy” with tips such as “good listening”, “good sitting” and “finishing tasks”.

It sounds like Calendar Girls is going so well and you are enjoying it.
How exciting for Sophie to get her first pair of pointe shoes and Thomas’s teacher sounds wonderful with him. The sunflower for Jessica did make me smile. x
I’m so pleased Calendar Girls is going really well and that you are enjoying it. What an amazing production to be a part of. Well done, you!
Brilliant news about your family member.
I love Sophie’s science cake model, it’s so clever.
How lovely of Thomas’s teacher with the redy, little things like that mean such a lot to kids.
A beautiful sunflower for beautiful Jessica x
Glad the show is/has gone really well. Exciting about the pointe shoe fitting. I remember my first attempt – 2 hours in a shop in High Wycombe, and didn’t find ones that were right, so ended up in London for a successful attempt 2. Hope Sophie’s was less painful!
Glad school are adapting to Thomas’ needs well. How sweet his comic book is to tie it all in with his rewards.
Calendar Girls sounds like such good fun, I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it so much.
Congratulations all round this week! for you and your production, Thomas and his Redy and Sophie with her shoes. Love the sunflower for Jessica.
