It’s show week for Sophie for Bring It On this week and I’m especially thankful that she and her friend are able to take part after they were involved in a car accident on the way home from rehearsal last Saturday. Sophie’s friend’s mum was bringing them home and had stopped at temporary traffic lights near the canal bridge when the car behind came speeding over the bridge and went into the back of them.
Thankfully there were no serious injuries. Sophie and her friend’s little brother were shaken up but otherwise seemed mostly okay. Her friend had some bruises on her back and her friend’s mum came off worse having hurt her back and shoulders in the accident, but thankfully is now able to move a little more easily. It was horrible getting the phone call although I was very thankful to be reassured quite quickly that Sophie seemed to be fine. I was also thankful that I was able to get there quite quickly and be with the three children in paediatric A&E while Sophie’s friend’s mum was being checked over in adult A&E.
I thought Sophie might be a bit sore the next day, but thankfully she was fine and wanted to continue with our original plans to head to Bristol to finish hunting for the Gromit Unleashed 3 sculptures. She and Thomas also enjoyed having Grandad come along for the trip.
I’ve also been thankful that since the accident, the temporary lights have moved to a better location as they were in a bit of a blind spot. Understandably the girls have been nervous having to go through them on our trips to and from the theatre but it’s helped knowing that they’re now in a more visible spot.
Both girls have been fine in rehearsals this week preparing for yesterday’s opening night. I’ve been busy juggling drop-offs and pick-ups at the theatre, keeping Thomas entertained, chaperone shifts and trying to keep on top of work! Sophie was thankful this week for me being on shift as a chaperone as there’s been an ice-cream van outside the theatre during their lunch breaks and she’s only been able to go out and have an ice-cream when I’m on shift!
What I’ve been grateful for this week:
- Day 227 – I am grateful for bees.
- Day 228 – I am grateful that Sophie is now home safe and sound after being in a car accident with her friend on their way home from rehearsal. We’ve been to A&E to be checked over and all seems fine although she may well be sore tomorrow. So thankful that everyone was able to walk away without any serious injuries and for those who stopped to help.
- Day 229 – I am grateful for managing to find all the Gromit Unleashed 3 sculptures. Lovely to have my father-in-law join us for our final round of Gromit hunting.
- Day 230 – I am grateful for outdoor time and burning off some energy.
- Day 231 – I am grateful for card games.
- Day 232 – I am grateful that Sophie and I both now have our show T-shirts – opening night for Sophie tomorrow!
- Day 233 – I am grateful that opening night for Bring It On went well. Lovely to be a part of it backstage as a chaperone and looking forward to seeing it from the front on Saturday!
Other things that have made me smile this week:
- Going out for a nice long walk with a local walking group.
- Being complimented on my piano playing by my organ teacher who was leading our Sunday service. I play the piano for most of our Sunday services but having my organ teacher leading the service did make me feel a bit nervous so it was reassuring to be told that I’d played well and that my piano playing has improved since I started organ lessons.
- Meeting up with friends after our Gromit hunt.
- Beautiful sunflowers for Jessica.
- Listening to Thomas giggling with other children on the nets at Go Ape.
Joining in with Raisie Bay for Word of the Week.
Thank goodness nobody was seriously hurt in the accident. I’m glad Sophie didn’t suffer any after effects, and you could go ahead with your plans.
Good luck to you both in your productions. It sounds like a busy time for you, but you seem to balance ot all brilliantly.
Jessica’s sunflowers are beautiful, so bright and vibrant.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend x
Oh gosh! I am glad everyone was OK after the crash. What a scare for everyone involved. That is good that it didn’t ruin your week, it sounds like a busy one! Good luck to Sophie with the show and well done for finding all of the sculptures. x
Horrible to hear about the crash, glad everyone got off relatively unscathed. I always worry about temporary traffic lights because they’re so often not in a safe place when they’re round a bend that car can’t see round. Good that they’ve since moved them.
Exciting to hear how the show’s going. I’ve never seen that musical, but have seen the film. Would be interesting to see how they work it out with the cheerleading.
Brilliant to have spotted all the Gromits. It’s making me want to go and find our nearest trail, although N definitely wouldn’t come with me.
I am so glad all is okay!!! I am coming over from Anne’s link up! I love this word. This past week a few of my friends and I discussed practicing this art of thanksgiving and cultivating a more thankful heart.
I can just imagine the scare you got after that accident. Thankfully the kids are fine. I hope her friend’s mum gets better soon too. Hope all the rehearsals have paid off and that the performances go really well.
Thank goodness everyone is okay, that would have given them quite a scare. I’m glad that the week got better and you got to do all the things you wanted to. Good luck to Sophie with her show.
That must have been a terrifying phone call. Getting hit from behind can be a big shock and very painful. I’m glad everyone is healing okay. I can understand Sophies fear at the place of the accident. I avoid the turn we were making when we were hit by behind.
OMG that made me gulp and I couldn’t read it quick enough to hear that Sophie and the others were OK. I hope there are no lasting effects for her and her friend and friends mum.
Lovely sunflowers for Jessica.
I hope opening night went well for you both.
