Friday Focus 13/02/2026 – Mixed

This week has been a bit of a mixed one. We had a lovely weekend away in Torquay for the Land’s End – John O’Groats Association annual dinner and awards evening. Sophie and Thomas enjoyed having time on the beach and at the arcades during the day and it was nice to get dressed up and enjoy a nice dinner at the awards evening too.

The rest of the week has been a bit up and down. There have been nice moments, but we’ve all been feeling tired and a little run-down. Thomas has had a couple of tough days at school. We had his parents’ evening mid-week which was also quite mixed. It was lovely to see how much better he’s doing with his work in his school books, but there’s also been some challenges and things that he’s been struggling more with recently. The second half of the week seems to have been a bit better for him, but I think we’re all feeling ready for the half-term break.

What I’ve been grateful for this week:

My computer; Sophie and Thomas on the beach; Thomas with an 'I love you' sign on his back; snowdrops; a ladybird on Thomas's jumper; daffodils at Jessica's forever bed; pink blossom on a tree - "#365daysofgratitude 2026 - Week 6"

  • Day 37 – I am grateful for a productive day.

  • Day 38 – I am grateful for a winter walk along the beach.

  • Day 39 – I am grateful for adorable sibling moments, even when pranking each other.

  • Day 40 – I am grateful for snowdrops.

  • Day 41 – I am grateful for Thomas’s delight on spotting a little friend on his jumper.

  • Day 42 – I am grateful for daffodils.

  • Day 43 – I am grateful for signs that spring is just around the corner.

Other things that have made me smile this week:

  • Seeing Sophie on the junior ensemble audition poster for the Easter panto.

  • Building sandcastles on the beach.
