This week has certainly been a full-on week with a dance festival and four panto performances for Sophie, all the busyness of preparing for Christmas while my husband prepared for his trip to Japan, and an unexpected event reminding us than life can change in an instant, although thankfully all concerned were okay.

Sophie had a very successful day at the Spirit of Dance finals on Saturday, winning her tap and musical theatre sections and coming away with three trophies. The next day was a full-on day of panto for her, with two shows. Her dance school came to see her in the afternoon performance and I got to see it from the audience for the first time in the evening, going as a helper with her Girls’ Brigade company. It was so lovely to get to watch it properly and Sophie performed so well.

It’s been a week of remembering and reflecting with the anniversary of my dad’s death on Monday and then spending time with my mother-in-law on Tuesday making Christmas wreaths for her sister and Jessica. I took them both up to GreenAcres on Wednesday morning along with some flowers.

On Wednesday evening, my husband and Thomas were both involved in a car accident when an oncoming car turned right across them while they were en route to pick up Sophie from dancing. I’m so very thankful that everyone walked away from the accident without any major injuries. I was also very thankful for the people who stopped to help, and the friends who took Sophie home and looked after her there while I was at A&E with my husband and Thomas. Other than bruises and being very shaken up, they were both fine.
Thursday was another two-show day for Sophie with panto, and for me with chaperoning, while my husband flew off for his work event in Japan. He’s now away until 23rd December. I had a phone call from him after he arrived to tell me that there was a small earthquake after he got to the hotel, but all was fine. Not really what I wanted to hear after everything else this week but hopefully the rest of the run-up to Christmas will be less eventful!
What I’ve been grateful for this week:

- Day 339 – I am grateful that Thomas enjoyed decorating Jessica’s wooden Christmas tree.
- Day 340 – I am grateful for a lovely day of dancing at the Spirit of Dance final and 1st place for tap and musical theatre and 5th place in lyrical.
- Day 341 – I am grateful for getting to see Sophie performing in panto and that friends from her dance school and Girls’ Brigade company also came along to support her today too.
- Day 342 – I am grateful for all the lovely memories I have of my wonderful Dad. It’s been 16 years since he died. Love and miss you always, Dad.
- Day 343 – I am grateful for time to make a Christmas wreath for Jessica.
- Day 344 – I am grateful for time with Jessica taking her Christmas wreath to her along with some pretty flowers.
- Day 345 – I am grateful for getting to be part of the panto and being able to help out with chaperoning for shows.
Other things that have made me smile this week:
- Thomas telling me that “a hug is a squish of love”. Such an adorable definition.
- A lovely chat with Thomas on the way to school, imagining how funny it would be if things like ice lollies and pizza grew on trees.
- Seeing the Rotary Club Santa on his rounds.

Oh wow! Things have been busy, especially for Sophie! She is doing so well with her dancing.
Sending love and hugs. The wreaths are beautiful! Oh gosh! I am so glad Thomas and your husband were OK after the crash. Eek! To the earthquake, try not to worry. x
Crikey, it’s been an eventful week. Relief that everyone was ok in the accident. Glad the panto is going well for Sophie, and how well she’s been doing in her dance festival
