The first full week of the summer holiday has been quite a busy and eventful one with Thomas’s 7th birthday celebrations at the weekend followed by a few days away to visit our Luxembourgish family.
This year we travelled to Luxembourg via Paris and enjoyed a day out at Disneyland. It was the first time visiting Disneyland for myself, Sophie and Thomas and we had a lovely day out. We managed to fit it everything that we wanted to do in the one day. Our favourite things were the parade and ‘It’s A Small World’ ride.
Sophie and Thomas have enjoyed spending time with their cousins in Luxembourg and we’ve enjoyed a couple of trips out to places that we haven’t visited before. It’s been nice to have some family time away.
What I’ve been grateful for this week:
- Day 206 – I am grateful that this year’s birthday cake request was a fairly easy one. This is ‘Reddy’ who is one of the Colorball characters that Thomas has created.
- Day 207 – I am grateful that Thomas has had such a lovely birthday. Thank you to everyone who came to his party today and helped him celebrate.
- Day 208 – I am grateful for a trophy for Sophie and her dance partner for their musical theatre duet. What a lovely finish to the dance festival year.
- Day 209 – I am grateful for a fun-filled day out at Disneyland Paris.
- Day 210 – I am grateful for cocktails and île flottante.
- Day 211 – I am grateful for a fun day out enjoying the medieval festival at Vianden Castle.
- Day 212 – I am grateful for an afternoon burning off some energy at Trampoline Trier.
Other things that have made me smile this week:
- Thomas’s delight on opening the ‘Colorball’ bean bags that I made for his birthday.
- Spending time with some of my family at Thomas’s birthday party.
- A stop-off next to some sunflower fields on the way to Luxembourg.
- Sophie and Thomas having their faces and arms painted at Vianden Castle.

What a great start to the Summer holidays! I am sure that Thomas and Sophie will have wonderful memories for years to come! Do enjoy and take some time out to relax yourself too!
Happy birthday to Thomas! I love the look of joy on his face. He seems like such a happy little boy.
Your trip to Disney and Luxembourg sounds like lots of fun.
I had to look up what île flottante was; it looks delicious.
Have a lovely weekend.
How wonderful to visit Disneyland on your way to Luxembourg. It sounds like you had a fantastic time.
Thomas’s cake is fab, well done with it and Happy birthday to him! Well done to Sophie with the trophy! She must be getting quite the collection now, she sounds so talented.
Fantastic photos! x
Looks like it’s been a brilliant week with lots of fun activities and lovely to have time with family. Happy belated birthday to Thomas.
What a wonderful week you have all had. I’m glad you had fun at Disney Land and Luxembourg. Happy birthday Thomas. The complete delight on his face with the beanbags you made. That is a lovely photo of your family at Thomas’s party. Well done to Sophie and her dance partner. They are doing well. I love a field of sunflowers. I’d love to grow more and try and recreate a small field. Maybe next year. Hope you have a lovely week.
Disneyland sounds lovely! What a fun adventure. And those little bags are so cute and well done on the cake 🙂
It sounds like a wonderful start to the holiday, I bet you are worn out already. I hope you enjoy Luxemburg and being with your family. How lovely to fit in a trip to Disneyland Paris too. I always wanted to take my girls, but it looks more likely they will go without me now, like their older sister has done.
Happy birthday to Thomas! The cake is so cute.
What a lovely day out at Disneyland and a lovely trip to Luxemburg. Your Summer is great and very exciting for the children as well.
That’s a fabulous start to the summer. I’ve never been to Disney in Paris but I did go to the one in LA years (many years) ago and it was brilliant. Hope Thomas had a wonderful birthday, he certainly looks happy with his gifts 🙂
Happy Belated Birthday to Thomas, hope he had the most amazing day. I love the colourable theme he chose, especially the cake.
I’ve now got ‘it’s a small, small world after all’ stuck on a loop in my head. Glad you enjoyed Disney, I too loved that ride with my children when they were similar ages.
