Thank you to everyone who linked up last week. I loved Our Cherry Tree’s daughter declaring that she would like to be an ice cream lady – there will always be people who want ice-cream!
Hubby often has to work away on events. The girls have got used to Daddy being away although they miss him not being around. Last week he was away for the first part of the week working on a big event. As he left, he reassured the girls that he would be home in two more sleeps. Jessica clearly felt I was in need of some reassurance too later that morning.
“Don’t worry, Mummy. Daddy will be home in two more sleeps. Two more sleeps. That’s not very long, is it? Sometimes Daddy is away for ten sleeps. That’s a long time.”
Unfortunately Sophie was unwell while Daddy was away. Jessica was so kind and caring though. She was such a help in the middle of the night, fetching clean pyjamas and towels for her little sister. “It’s okay, Sophie, it can always be washed!” It was lovely to see her fussing over Sophie, giving her toys and things to help make her feel better. I think Sophie was somewhat relieved to be left alone for a while though once Jessica was at school!
It does make me chuckle to see Jessica embracing her big sister role and playing “mummy” at times. Sometimes she doesn’t quite have the right approach though – as with this approach to bath time discipline: “If the kid doesn’t do what you want, you just throw water all over them!”

Awwhhh, so sweet! Jane is a bit like this but I’m most impressed when our eldest pipes up with something similar. It’s a big step for him. Thanks for hosting
