Friday Focus 02/06/17 – Half-term bugs

Half-term has been somewhat overshadowed by being unwell. I’ve had a horrible cough since the start of half-term which has made me tired and grumpy. Hubby’s away working on an event for the whole of half-term (and has been suffering from the same cough) so it’s not the best timing. I’ve tried to keep going and enjoy some half-term fun with the girls, but I’ve struggled energy-wise. Thankfully, I think it’s starting to ease off now.

A doodle of the word "unwell" with a cartoon version of me leaning on the 'w', looking unhappy with my head resting in my hands

Jessica was also unwell in the middle of the week. She had an afternoon of being quite sick and sorry for herself – it turned out that she’d been eating playdough. Hopefully she won’t be doing that again! As the week comes to an end, Sophie has been a little subdued and has been running a fever. I’m hoping that she hasn’t caught the cough I’ve had and will be back to her normal happy self very quickly.

Things I have loved this week:

  • A lovely long walk in Langley Park hunting for geocaches.

Sophie standing in the long grass near the Chinese bridge at the arboretum in Langley Park

  • Catching up with my family and spending a few days staying with my twin sister.

  • An afternoon watching Jessica and Sophie having fun at the fair with their cousins despite the rain!

  • Collecting Lego cards and swapping them – although I think I might be enjoying this more than Jessica and Sophie are!

  • Baking cupcakes with the girls.

  • Making starry night glitter jars.

  • Catching up with a friend over several cups of tea and watching our girls having fun together enjoying soft play.

  • The start of #30DaysWild and an afternoon enjoying some outdoor painting using natural brushes.

  1. Oh no, sorry to hear you’ve been unwell. I’m glad it is starting to ease off now, but it’s hard when you just want to enjoy time with the girls. Sounds like you’ve still managed to have fun, I hope you have a better weekend x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

    1. Thanks Jocelyn. It has certainly felt like a long week. Still not back to normal but slowly getting there!

  2. Sorry to hear you have been unwell Louise, nothing worse than feeling poorly but having to get on with it. No rest when you are a parent that’s for sure. It’s nice to see you have still managed to have some fun despite being poorly. Have a lovey weekend x #WotW

    1. Thanks Angela. It’s been a tough week but the girls have had lots of fun. I’m quite enjoying being able to rest a bit more this morning while they’re at school and preschool!

  3. Always during the holidays! I think its because we relax. I hope all the coughs go soon. We’ve been joining in the 30 days Wild too. Such fun. It is a great time to catch up with family. We’ve been doing the same. Youngest is collecting the Sainsbury’s Lego cards too. Mainly through his grandparents. I like the idea of the making card. #wotw

    1. Thanks Cheryl. I think you might be right – the bugs hit us at the point where we’re slowing down a bit. I’m really enjoying doing #30DaysWild so far. Glad you are enjoying it too.

  4. Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that illness blighted your half term. We had it the week before half term and it dragged on a bit into this week but it’s a relief to have everyone well again now. Poor Jessica learning the hard way about eating play dough!
