#365daysofgratitude 2018 – Week 1

For the last two years, I have taken part in a daily gratitude challenge – sharing one photo a day on Instagram of something I am grateful for. It’s taught me to look for the little things and has made me a more positive person. Even on the difficult days, I have managed to find something that I can be thankful for. It’s now become such a positive part of my life that I’ve decided to keep going for a third year. To find something in every day that I am thankful for, no matter how small. These weekly summaries have become a lovely way of looking back across the week, and a reminder that I have so much to be thankful for. These are the things that I have been thankful this week:

Day 1 – I am grateful for little fun ways to help Jessica bring up those secretions on her chest. She quite enjoyed blowing bubbles with pink water. She’s had more chest physio and suction again today which is quite unpleasant for her but at least the team try and make it a little more fun for her when they can.

Day 2 – I am grateful that this little lady has been well enough to sit in a chair for a couple of hours today and do some colouring with Daddy. She has had such a good day that we have been transferred up to high care on Ocean Ward – well done Jessica!

Day 3 – I am grateful that Jessica’s happy little personality is starting to re-emerge. She’s smiling more today, playing with her toys on her tray and even making the nurses dance to one of her musical toys! Such a little superstar.

Day 4 – I am grateful for the wonderful play workers on Ocean Ward. They kept Jessica amused with lots of arts and crafts today and we managed several hours sitting out in a chair doing sticking, painting and playing with playdoh.

Day 5 – I am grateful for the photos and updates from my mum letting me know that Sophie is enjoying her sleepover with Nanny and getting to spend time with her cousins. Haven’t seen my baby girl for over a week now and miss her terribly but at least I know she is having fun and coping well with being away from us. She’s a little superstar just like her big sister is.

Day 6 – I am grateful for ice lollies and strawberries. Jessica doesn’t have much of an appetite at the moment but at least there are some things we can get her to eat!

  1. I do love seeing your daily photos Louise, they always make me smile. And I have been checking Facebook each morning to see your updates on Jessica, they are usually the first thing that pops up in my feed and I am so happy to hear how well everything is going.
