Jessica and Sophie love watching Messy Goes to Okido on CBeebies so when we were recently sent a Large Talking Messy Monster from Golden Bear Toys to review, I knew they would love it. They were both very excited when they first opened the box and spotted Messy. Pressing his tummy and hearing some of the phrases that he says in the TV programme had them in fits of giggles.… Read more
My girls love books – especially ones with bright colourful illustrations, animal characters and stories being told in rhyme. We were recently sent a copy of Harty Hedgehog and his BuZZy Friends, one of the books in the BuZZy Friends series of books, which ticked all of those boxes.
The BuZZy friends books were originally created by Michael Walter to amuse his granddaughter. The stories help to guide children through various experiences that they might encounter, and include the “BuZZy Code” – a rhyme which helps to encourage children to be kind and thoughtful.… Read more
As a busy mummy of two with a tendency to burn the candle at both ends, I’m somewhat reliant on a cup of coffee or two in the mornings to get me going. Sometimes I wonder if I drink a little too much coffee though, and whether it would be best to swap my mid-morning cuppa with another drink. I was recently invited to do just that – to swap my coffee for some POM Wonderful 100% pomegranate juice over a delicious brunch.… Read more
“’Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…”
Just hearing those first two lines of Clement C. Moore’s classic poem “The Night Before Christmas” takes me back to my childhood and the excitement of going to bed on Christmas Eve and believing that Father Christmas would be visiting that night.… Read more
Like many small children, my two girls aren’t too keen on going to sleep in the dark. We used to get around this by leaving the hall light on and the door ajar but this wasn’t ideal as the light from the doorway fell across Sophie’s cot which made it harder to get her off to sleep.… Read more
Sitting and reading fairy tales at bedtime is a magical part of childhood. The fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen are among those stories which I fondly remember from my own childhood. This month, I was invited to review a collection of these, retold by Mandy Archer, and published by Parragon Books.… Read more

With Hallowe’en coming up, the latest Book Buddy book from Parragon Books – Pumpkins, Pumpkins Everywhere – was ideal to get us in the mood for thinking about what kinds of faces we could carve into our pumpkins later this month.
Pumpkins, Pumpkins Everywhere is a fun picture book all about the different pumpkins that a group of small trick-or-treaters encounter on their way to the pumpkin parade.… Read more
Being a mummy to two very active small children means spending a lot of time on my feet and as we love to spend a lot of time out and about exploring, comfortable footwear is definitely a must. In my pre-mummy days, I wanted my shoes to look good – comfort was an added bonus – but now comfort always comes first.… Read more
The girls were bouncing up and down with excitement from the moment they spotted the giant inflatable showdome with the pictures of Upsy Daisy and Iggle piggle outside. Jessica had been talking about it for weeks ever since Daddy made the mistake of telling her that we were going to see In the Night Garden Live again – ah the joys of “is it today, Mummy?… Read more
