The Toddlebike2 is a pre-balance bike aimed at toddlers to help bridge the gap between baby ride-on toys and moving on to balance bikes and scooters. It can be used from when a toddler is confident with walking –around 18 months. At almost three, Sophie is right at the upper end of the target age range for the Toddlebike2 but she has been having a wonderful time trying it out.… Read more
My girls love books – especially ones with bright colourful illustrations, animal characters and stories being told in rhyme. We were recently sent a copy of Harty Hedgehog and his BuZZy Friends, one of the books in the BuZZy Friends series of books, which ticked all of those boxes.
The BuZZy friends books were originally created by Michael Walter to amuse his granddaughter. The stories help to guide children through various experiences that they might encounter, and include the “BuZZy Code” – a rhyme which helps to encourage children to be kind and thoughtful.… Read more
As a busy mummy of two with a tendency to burn the candle at both ends, I’m somewhat reliant on a cup of coffee or two in the mornings to get me going. Sometimes I wonder if I drink a little too much coffee though, and whether it would be best to swap my mid-morning cuppa with another drink. I was recently invited to do just that – to swap my coffee for some POM Wonderful 100% pomegranate juice over a delicious brunch.… Read more
One of the best presents my hubby ever bought me was a personalised case for my iPhone. It was our first Christmas as a family of four and the case was printed with a photo of the four of us, taken when Sophie was just a week old. A happy moment captured and remembered every time I picked up my phone. Sadly, two-and-a-half years on, the photo has become very faded. I had been thinking about getting a new case when I was contacted by CaseApp inviting me to review a custom case/skin for my phone and laptop – the perfect opportunity to replace my tired-looking case with a new one featuring an updated photo.… Read more
Both my girls love singing along to nursery rhymes and watching nursery rhyme videos on the iPad so when I was recently offered the chance to review the Kidloland Nursery Rhymes app, I thought it sounded like something that the girls would enjoy.
The app is aimed at children under the age of five. I was quite amazed by just how much content is available within the app – more than 245 nursery rhymes and over 100 different games and activities, including jigsaw puzzles, shape sorting games and images to colour in. There are lots of different categories available on the app – nursery rhymes, ABCD songs, phonics, activities, Old Macdonald songs, vehicles, animal kingdom, fruits and vegetables, Row Your Boat, numbers, lullabies, colors and shapes, months and days, games and Christmas songs. Enough to keep my girls amused for quite some time – which sounds ideal for car journeys if we end up planning a road trip this summer!… Read more
My washing machine and dishwasher are essential items in my house – both of them feeling like they are in almost constant use at time. The thought of either of them breaking down is enough to leave me in a cold sweat. I know that cleaning and limescale removal are both important in helping prolong the life of them both and was recently sent some products from Dr.… Read more
Today this little blog of mine celebrates its second birthday. It seems hard to believe that two years have passed since I hit publish on that very first post. What started as an outlet for my thoughts about life as a heart family has become so much more – it has become a hobby, a bit of an addiction and the doorway into a new world. I have made so many online friends through blogging, become part of a wonderful supportive community, have rediscovered a little part of me through doing something I love and captured so many wonderful moments of family life along the way.… Read more
Preparing for the arrival of a new baby is an exciting time – although the list of things that it seems you need to buy can be somewhat daunting. There are so many options, so many choices – what do you really need to buy, what brands should you chose and what advice will help you most on your journey to parenthood?… Read more
I have a confession to make. When reading books, I frequently get a little bored in the middle and flick ahead to find out how the book ends before deciding whether the ending might be worth the journey to get there. For me, there are two signs of a good book.… Read more
I love introducing my two girls to collections of books that I enjoyed as a child and The Book People is one of my favourite bookseller sites for finding various collections at affordable prices. We have previously bought the full collections of Mr Men, Little Miss and Beatrix Potter books through their website although there was one classic character from my early childhood that I had yet to fully introduce the girls to – Miffy the rabbit.… Read more
