Our latest mini creations activity has seen Jessica having fun making masks out of paper plates.
It’s been lovely over recent weeks to see Jessica engaging more and more in imaginative play – I can see her making up stories whilst playing with her In The Night Garden figures and she is now showing an interest in dressing up and pretending to be things – the nurse’s outfit that she got for her birthday recently has been a big hit! Making masks recently gave her the opportunity to combine her love of getting creative with this new-found interest in imaginative play.
Mummy helped her cut a paper plate in half with holes cut out for eyes to form two mask templates. Then Jessica stuck lots of pieces of coloured paper over the mask to decorate it. Once Mummy had added some elastic (and cut away a little more of the eye holes), we had two masks ready to wear. Jessica decided that the masks were cat masks and so has been having great fun pretending to be a cat whilst wearing them.
